MSS Boar's Head bar and beer prices

I know there is a thread about this but my search to find it was fruitless.

According to my bartender friend at MSS the new pricing is:
High Roller Red, Pale Ale and Black Chip is $1.75.

IPA is now $3.50

 

Don't know what they were before but the prices seem reasonable, cheap even. I never tried any of them. What size glasses do they come in? At least 12 oz. I presume?

As many bars do these days, they call them pint glasses, but if you actually measure them, they come out to about 14 oz. Some downtown casinos, even less.

 

Wasn't it $1.75 for all MSS brews? So they only raised the price for one? Am I reading that right Joe?

 

I think you mean High Roller Gold, Royal Red Lager, Marker Pale Ale, and Black Chip Porter, is still $1.75 per pint.
The IPA is the rotating IPA (non-house beer), which is now $3.50 per pint.

This has been my hot button for awhile now. You don't know how mad this makes me. Resort fee outrage, for me, doesn't hold a candle to this out and out deception.

 

...still a great price for better than average craft beer. I always laugh when I see someone walk up to a bar in Vegas and pay $6+ for a Bud Light...

 

I am not positive, but I am pretty sure that the pints at MSS are true 16oz pints.

 

It's been a few years, but the last time we brought a glass home and measured, it was less. Closer to 14oz. Things could have changed?

Yes, they can't fib about that since the size is stamped on the bottom. I forgot about the plastic, I was referring to the glass "pint" glasses.

 

So if I order a craft beer from the craps tables I probably would get a plastic cup, no? That's the thing, I don't care for beer in a plastic cup. I like it in an ice cold bottle or glass.

 

My favorite VP machine is next to the cocktail waitress station and I see the bartenders pouring beer in glass. Maybe just specify when you order at the tables? Before the Fremont Street, no glass ordinance, went into effect, plastic was never an issue inside the casino.

 

Yeah, wouldn't hurt to try. Not much difference between a glass of beer and a glass bottle of beer.

I forgot.....the plastic cup holds more than the glass !

My beer is always comp'd w/ VP.

 

Blue Moon Draft in a 14oz. heavy bottomed "mixing glass" after the head subsided. At best, this is a 12 oz pour and I felt ripped off, so I won't go back to this local restaurant. Beermenus dot com lists pour size for bars.

One of the things I liked about bars in Europe, all of the glass wear had a pour line plus about a finger or so for the head, so you knew that you were getting a liter, 500 ml., or 330 ml.

 

I love the Boar's Head Bar, but I have never paid for a drink there, lol. I can't wait to visit with the bartenders there next week!!!

 

It's all relative. If they pour into a 14oz glass, they base the price on what a 14oz pour costs them. Of course this doesn't mean you get 14 ounces of beer because you want and need head on a beer. They could use a 16oz glass, but it would cost more because it costs them more. Simple fact of life.
