4 nights is the most I've ever done. Well my dumb*ss booked 5 nights comped at Hard Rock and closing with 2 at Linq. I'm thinking a plan of 3 nights killing it (my usual Vegas all out blitzkrieg) two days off and close with a 2 night bender again. How does a 37 year old teacher attack Vegas for his spring break? Do have a couple VMB'ers meeting up so that will be great. Or do you just go Nicholas Cage style into oblivion? 5k bankroll but I don't believe in envelopes! Lol. Maybe rent a car and drive to cali? Never seen the Pacific. Thoughts??? Going to bring my golf clubs but I think I'd rather go poolside alot. Yes bunny ranch would be one for the storybook (nursing home stories) lol!

March25- April 1st. GVR or Red Rock casino for an off-strip excursion? cheers.

Well regardless I promise I will try for an epic trip report for all of you! Time I returned the favor for you ALL entertaining me over the years!

When I go for that long, I always have to take into account that my bankroll stays the same as a shorter trip, so I do everything I can to not blow through it in short order. With that many days, along with staying at the Hard Rock, I'd be spending a good chunk of time at the pool. Especially if I have a good group of friends and we can all chip in to get a cabana and spend the day there lounging in the sun, taking in the scenery, and enjoying some beverages.

See the great sites just beyond the valley. There are a lot (see Mr. Teacher...a lot is two words, not alot.) of interesting places to take up a half or full day excursion. Research what interests you and drive off to get more of the Vegas area under your belt.

It can be hard to spend 48 hours in LV without gambling especially when you are staying in a resort. Fortunately you're at Hard Rock so it's easier to get around and avoid the Strip those 2 days. Yes you will need a rental car. Golf clubs = great idea. Go play 36 at either Paiute or Primm Valley, both often have specials, Primm sometimes is really cheap. Use a fake email and sign up for deals. Or head up to Wolf Creek, spectacular course, you will never forget it. Heading to Cali as you suggested would be cool, but you could also go the other way to Zion, really amazing. Bryce Canyon too. Or Grand Canyon, Red Rock, Valley of Fire, Mt. Charleston. Go see Penn & Teller. Jet ski at Lake Mead. (Technically gambling, but cheap: ) head to South Point and bet horses all day, or low-limit poker. And like you already said, the pool!

Until last July my longest trip was 4 nights and then I did a 7 night trip. My only scheduled plans were to see Rush at the MGM on day 3 other than that I played it by ear. I spent the first half of the trip at Excalibur with my brother-in-law and the last half at Flamingo solo. When I booked the trip I thought 7 was way too long but I figured I'd try it at least once in my life - I treated each day like any other day in Vegas and 7 days did not seem long at all. I spent each day at the pool - two of the days I didn't drink at all so I didn't feel 'beat up' too bad - I only had one Nicholas Cage-like night....

My last couple trips were 6 nights, which seems to be plenty long for me. I arrive late on the first day as I drive in. I try to get out of the casinos and spend one day exploring, but I have a car. Valley of Fire, Red Rock, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead, etc. Lots of places to get outside that aren't as far away as the Pacific Ocean.

I typically travel to meet up with some other board members, so most of my nights and at least one cabana day are spent with them. During my free days, I do crazy things like nap. Or knit. Or work. I'm a party animal. :haha:

Awesome suggestions thanks!!! Just HAVE to control my gaming. Love the horse betting day/low limit poker. I also plan on a few $50 hockey bets and just chill for the games. Looking like renting a car is a must for those 7 days! Thx again!

Keep in mind the casinos and the bars are always open 24/7. No need to go crazy every night. A spa day around day 3 or 4 makes sense. Even better, go to GVR or Red Rock for a night or two to get away from the party scene. Both have great pools, a relaxed vibe, and lower prices than the strip for food and bev. Assuming you are comped at Hard Rock, you could just stay checked in there, pack a duffle bag on the morning of day 3, head over to GVR, spend the day at the pool there, have a nice dinner, and come back to Hard Rock at noon on day 4. That's what I would do.

Explore the dining options far away from the Strip. Head out to Bob Taylor's Ranch House for an excellent steak. Explore Chinatown. Lots of mellow relaxation by the pool.

It's 4 hours to LA, so a morning run to the beach and back isn't impossible. Leave early, hit the beach at 11am or so, then chill until traffic mellows around 7pm. Burn back and be in the casino by midnight.

My plan for the last few trips has been to end with a night or two at one of those off-strip resorts where I can lay around in the sun or get some spa time and relax with some me-time before heading back home. Somehow I always seem to find a way to not make it happen. Next time for sure! ;)

My shortest trip to Las Vegas has been 7 days but my average now is 10-11 days as I fly almost 5 hours to get there. Last time I was in Las Vegas was the first time I ventured outside the strip or downtown to do some site seeing, and I quite enjoyed it to my surprise. I went to Red Rock, Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. In a couple of weeks I will be back in Vegas and plan on doing Mt. Charleston and Red Rock for some hiking. I will also be doing some off strip casino exploring (Red Rock, Sams Town, Orleans etc.). Las Vegas has more to it than just gambling. It took me several trips to find this out but now that I know going "off" strip for other entertainment and site seeing is really allot of fun, I will continue to explore non-gambling adventures. Oh don't get me wrong 80% of my time will still be gambling, after all that is why I go to Vegas. But 2 days will be spend exploring what else Vegas has to offer.

Take a couple afternoons and do ACG/LVA coupon runs to places you probably have never been to - the less-traveled side of LV casinos. Take one day to do North Las Vegas (Cannery-Lucky Club-Silver Nugget-Bighorn-Jerry's Nugget), another to do Hendertucky (Wildfire-Club Fortune-Eldorado-Emerald Island-Fiesta Henderson-GVR-Sunset Station-Jokers Wild-Skyline), and maybe a Boulder Hwy run (Longhorn-Eastside Cannery-Sam's Town-AZ Charlies-Boulder Station).

Play nickel VP all day and sample all the microbrews at Ellis Island, then have the $7.99 steak dinner (you may want to cab or Lyft/Uber this one).

Someone else mentioned off-Strip restaurants - re-read all of Westie's old trip reports for some great ideas in that respect.

Check Tix-4-Tonite & Goldstar for a cheap cheesy show. Most recently I have seen Scintas & Tommy Wind for next to nothing.

Just a few ideas from this low-roller.

As others have mentioned, a day or two excursion up the middle will do a lot of good if you're used to going full speed for 3-4 days. I'm used to going full speed a lot too. It will likely catch up to you if you do it all week.

I like long trips to Vegas. My next trip is 7 nights. Just pace yourself and try a non gambling day or two if necessary. I drove up to Zion National Park a few trips ago. This trip we plan on doing some hiking over at Red Rock Canyon. Hit the pool, watch a game at one of the sports books, slow play at a video poker bar while you knock back a few, see a couple shows.

All my trips are at least 7 days. I like it that way because I don't feel like I have to cram everything in during three days. I like taking day trips, golfing and hanging out at the pool to slow my roll. If you like to read as a way to relax by the pool or in your room then most definitely bring a book with you. I couldn't find anywhere on the strip or downtown to get a decent paperback. On that note, The Gambler's Book Shop is a nice diversion and can definitely eat up some time. Have a great trip.

I have done a couple 6 nights and one 7. As Sonya said I usually spend part of the trip off-strip. Each trip I have made sure to have some sort of plan to hit something in the desert. Red Rock, Mt. Washington, anything just to soak up some natural sights and level back out. I am not a huge gambler so I don't have a fit if I don't gamble a certain amount each day so that helps. Rent a car, a scooter, MC or something to get out and about!

Also my gambling largely depends on how the first two days go. If I am up then I may gamble deeper into the trip. If I take a beating the first two days I taper it down. On my first 7 nighter I hit a Royal on a bartop on my third spin before I even checked in, so that def helped out that trip. I put it in an envelope and didn't touch it and just used the original bankroll.
