I hate waiting in these hour+ long wait lines to check in, especially at CET where you get off a 5 hour flight and have to wait. That is the last thing I want to do when I'm tired. I just want to throw my shit down and get into my room.

Do any of the strip CET properties have self check in. You know, those machines where you slide your credit card, and get your room keys so you can just go straight up to your room?

I know flamingo and linq have self check-in. Many CET properties have platinum or higher checkin lines as well if you have that status. Those lines are usually very short at most CET properties.

Get the credit card. Check in is probably the best Platinum status perk...

Caesars has added self checkin kiosks. You confirm you want self check in on your mobile device the day of arrival, and then just visit the kiosk to get your room keys.

However, if you do that you can't ask for quiet room, high floor, any complimentary upgrades, etc., can you?

If one uses the self check-in kiosks, how do they verify that a companion, whose Total Rewards number was used to secure better rates, is present??

They don't. We just checked in at the Linq on Sunday and there was no prompt re: the companion. It was all on the kiosk including printing of two keys and, if you requested it, directions to the room. They had plenty of young girls around to assist. I think the front desk clerks will soon go the way of the slot attendants.

Interesting. The wording on the online reservation system is insistent that the companion be present at check-in with their ID. Did you have a companion on your reservation? If so, this seems like a gaping loophole.

I would highly recommend getting the Total Rewards credit card as well. Automatic upgrade to Platinum, which allows one to use the Platinum/Seven Stars check-in. At many properties, it's in a separate, air-conditioned room away from the rabble. The associates in there are also more receptive to the $20 trick, being that they are away from the front desk management and are used to dealing with higher-tier guests.

Being Platinum is a nice perk. I spread my play out and would never be Plat if I didn't have their Visa card. And you'll remain Platinum as long as you keep using the card. Technically Platinum doesn't get priority while checking in but many of the CET properties offer it anyway https://www.totalrewards.com/content/cet-tr/en/overview.html

Before I was plat (gold) we were checking into the Rio, in a long line, and I saw a special line for Gold and above with one person in it. Hell anyone who as a card is at least Gold so we went in that line and got checked in in about 5 minutes.

Yes, my stay at Caesars in December 2015 had self checkin kiosks. They actually had staff standing around and ushering you to the machines if you were checking in. This is convenient, but makes the $20 trick useless...
