I'm looking to stop around the south end of the Strip on the next trip, I have got some offers through Mlife and there is some good rates for the Luxor. There is some nice rates for pyramid king suite and also tower suite. I just want to hear from anyone who's stopped there and what they thought of it.

    Cheers

Stayed there last visit and it's actually alright. The casino is quite good, the restaurants are pretty good. Rooms are dated but clean. Poker room is good. Best thing is the location. It means you have to walk a bit to get anywhere but for me that's actually good as it gives me some much needed exercise. Access to other casinos is excellent.

    I'm staying agin in September.

It's an ok place if the price is right. Better to stay in the tower. The pyramid rooms and inclinators are cool at first but that wears off quickly. Some decent food options. Good location. Tram to/from MBay and Excal.

I know many people hate "themed" hotels/casinos. But I liked Luxor better before they dethemed it. They can never take the pyramid away though :)

It's not the the Luxor is terrible. It's just that it's a bit of a neglected property. slightly off the beaten track. The rooms I saw last year were serviceable but nothing special. The bar tops near the front of the casino that I played up were pretty rough and old. I hadn't seen bar tops that old in a long time. Pool is nothing special. A lot of concrete.......

If you are on a budget and this place comes up for an inexpensive price, but all means it will do just fine. But if something else is close to the price they are offering I might look elsewhere.

I would try to score the Tower room if you are going to stay there. Our pyramid room leaked on us when it rained! :grrr:

And yeah as Gaggles said, those front bartops are definitely old. A good 8/5 DDB game is there at quarters (multiway progressive) if PGP didn't get their grubby hands on it. I didn't get south of Monte Carlo this last trip to check. :(

I don't know why everyone says "stay in the tower"!

You're probably only going to stay there once. Why not say you stayed in the Pyramid?

Yes, in the "old days" the inclinators (diagonal elevators) had security so you couldn't use them unless you were staying in the pyramid.

I stayed there with my (then 10 year old) son about 4 years ago. For him it was quite special to stay in the pyramid. The rooms are OK, but you're in Las Vegas, who stays in the room?

Did it once, don't need to do it again, unless I get a room on a top level floor.

Its been many years since I stayed there so I'm sure things have changed. The only thing I remember (which I believe to still be true) is that it has the worst check in! The lines seem to take forever to move no matter how many employees they have. I really hope that changed, it was rather frustrating.

Luxor is where I usually stay. Of all the times I have been to Vegas and stayed there (I have stayed at a LOT of places) I have only stayed in the pyramid once. That was a King Suite upgrade due to travel delays and they gave away my Tower room. I prefer the Tower rooms.

You are within a short walk to 7 or 8 other casinos and dozens of good restaurants

For me it's a good rate and place.
More space on the bus, less people in buffets, less college kids, less girl offers, etc.

Of all the budget Mlife properties, Luxor is the best one to stay in. If you are a gold Mlife member, you can ask for a complimentary upgrade (if available) to the tower room. The pyramid rooms are really dated and lots of wear on the furniture (scuffs). Carpets need changing and the bathrooms give off a motel vibe. Tower rooms are very updated and modern. I did once stay at their tower premier suite which was over 1,000 feet and it was pretty big for the size. I think I paid around $250 per night for their largest room on the property.

I have stayed at the Luxor 10x - This August will be number 11. It's my favorite place to gamble in - I love the laid back poker tournament at 10:30AM - usually only one or two tables. It also has my favorite bar top video poker near the sports book. It's not luxurious by any means but I have a lot of good memories at that place. Also it's right next to Excalibur which has my favorite Craps table.... to me for the price (I usually can get a free room or a deal from Mlife) it's a great place to stay

What is different about the Excalibur craps table that makes it your favorite?

The reason is the pyramid rooms have 20 year old furniture in them and aren't well maintained.

It's usually at a $5 minimum when I play it early in the morning - plus I have gotten to know a few of the dealers who always seem to be on that shift (4 years now)

I like the casino quite a bit.

The pyramid rooms are a little tough if you're a tall feller. 380 square feet seems like about 200 when nearly half the room has you duckin'.

I'd stay there over the MGM, though. So they have that going for them....which is nice.

I like Luxor because of its unusual structure. It also is pretty cheap as compared to the other hotels nearby.

another thing I like about the Luxor is the theme, or what is left of it... the Egyptian statues in the lobby and outside are pretty awesome. In recent years they have been moving away from that theme... really? it's a freakin pyramid, what's wrong with an Egyptian theme??
