The Cromwell

Less than a month until our next visit and looking for any tips on the Cromwell. We normally stay at Planet Hollywood but noticed that we could get the Cromwell comped so we booked it instead. I know it's a small hotel but is there preferred floors or sides. I'm looking forward to the change but I think my wife is getting nervous since she loves everything about PHO. I can't wait and hope to run into some green wristbands.

I stayed there last month 5th floor stripview and the noise from the grand bazaar soundsystem is noticeable at times. The view required a lean and squint against the dirty window to view the bellagio fountains. It was midweek so I didn't notice any noise from drais. Nice rooms by the way comfy bed, well stocked with mini bar and hair and body products for sale. The beautiful chair that points exactly away from the TV.

 

If you like the boutique hotel vibe, then you will love the place. I stayed over Labor Day and outside of a slightly rough crowd in the casino some evenings its was great.
You want to be away from the nightclub, meaning closer to the strip. We were just above Giada looking over the pedestrian bridge and had no club noise to bother.

On the flip side you will hear traffic and fountain noise from the strip. The charm of the hotel and staff make up for it. I believe they are still offering free car service to / from the airport as
part of your stay. Make sure you call the hotel.

 

Rooms are small and some think are too dark, but they are very comfortable. There is no place to get a bite for breakfast, but free coffee is available in urns by the first floor elevator all day. We were there this summer and there was no free car service to and from the airport.

We will be at Planet Hollywood this summer for the first time. What makes your wife love it so and what tips can you offer us?

 

I stayed last June. The rooms are smaller, and darker, but still very nice. And while Giada's is the only food there, you have the benefit of being able to get from your room to the strip in like 3 minutes flat, so Flamingo, Bally's, Caesar's, Bellagio, and the Linq are all at your fingertips. We didn't miss not having a ton of on-prop options, and it actually forced us to get out and about rather than just posting up on property for the whole trip. The small amount of rooms (and arriving mid-week) should also afford you the ability to walk right up at check-in, which, based on previous experiences of waiting for 45 minutes to an hour, is priceless.

We have been staying at PHO since it originally opened as the Aladdin. All of the rooms have large bathrooms with a separate tub and walk in shower with plenty of counter space by the sink. The last few years we've been able to get the Resort Room which gets you a little more area in the room and has two separate sinks in the bathroom. She loves the music played in the casino during the day and the fact that the casino is attached to Miracle Mile Mall that makes it easy to take a break from gambling. The Spice Market buffet is still one of her favorites for breakfast as well as Earls for a quick late night snack. The only knock she has with it is the sports book but we are used to the one at the MGM.

I can confirm as of my last stay September 5th. I used it for my trip to airport.

However your best bet is to call the front desk.

Btw you can get room service for breakfast which we had, it was reasonable as room service goes and Giada food was good.

 

I will call to get the latest on airport pick up. I definitely have to get room service one morning since I have a bunch of RC's.

If your wife wants a roomy bathroom then she may be unhappy at The Cromwell. I stayed in a 2Q (Deluxe?) room with fountain view when they first opened & everything was very nice but downsized (no bathtub, big shower, small sink area). Has she seen pictures of the rooms & bathrooms?

I'm impressed by how nice they made the old Barbary Coast. Far cry from the craphole it had turned into as Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon. Of course, I also never thought I'd be staying at the Imperial Palace after a $223 million renovation turned it into something that's actually habitable for human beings. Vegas is a funny town.

 

We did the same thing. It was a great breakfast.

The service at The Cromwell is some the best we have had across all CET props, including non Vegas destinations.

 

I stayed there recently and enjoyed the hotel... Room is smaller and dark as others have noted.

The CRAZY thing is that the mirror in the room is actually a 2 way mirror that allows people in the bedroom to look into the shower if the lights are off! Yes, you read that right... People can watch your silhouette bathing from the comfort of their bed! Same thing goes for the other way - you can see into the bedroom if the bathroom lights are out. Creepy!!

What does first come first serve bases mean? LOL, hate when professional orgs have people send correspondence with significant mistakes. Way to dumb down the property.
