Is there a spa or somewhere to get a massage at the El Cortez? I thought I remember seeing a link but can't find it now.

I laughed when I first saw your question and was about to write something witty about full-service massages on Ogden street behind the Cortez, but then a real respondant chimed in with actual information, and I’m flabbergasted. A spa at the El Cortez? I think I'll stop in and give it a try when I'm in town in a couple of months.

Me too. I was thinking you'd have a good chance in that long narrow hallway behind the Parlour Bar.

Is the barber still open down at El Cortez?

I might head down there for a head/face shave, and grab a massage at the same time.

I don't know if it's still open, but I got a shave from Ernesto a couple years ago, and I had to ask him to quit in the middle of it because my face was so irritated, I had 5-10 weepers, etc. Others have reported better experiences.

It's been quite a while since I've posted but I have to agree. Give it a miss. I had a shave done there by ernesto and my face was STILL stubbly after he had finished. I get better shaves in Tijuana mexico.

As for the massage services I would highly recomend them. The owners have a joint across from the Orleans and they are my go to for reflexology massages. I much prefer Thai massage which they don't do but for reflexology foot massage it's very affordable and they are relaxing enough. Can't beat the 20 dollar for an hour price tag. Just be sure to give a 10 dollar tip and they are happy. 5 dollar tip they aren't so happy but better then stiffing them which does happen.

I'll stick to my Mach 3 then, lol.

My physio recommended trying some sports massage for my spasticity, so I'll definitely give the massage girls a spin.

Nothing to lose, and I can think of worse ways to spend an hour :evillaugh

Just to be clear. It is not a "spa" it is a big open room with a dozen or so cots you are fully clothed. I tried it my last visit. It was o.k. I asked for no oil and they used oil. The first part was nice but the reflexology left a lot to be desired. A big turn off to me was the sign for tips it had a frown and it said sad by the $5, a small smile for the $!0, 15 and then at the $20 it said very happy. They expect on a $20 reflexology/massage price a 100% tip.

They slide your pants up to massage your calves and also the same if you have long sleeves on. I consider that fully clothed.

On the same logic, if I parade around Las Vegas with my trousers "slid" down my thighs, is that considered "fully clothed"? :p

I'll be there next week. Will try to post a review, if I have any working brain cells left after my trip....

I found an amazing place for manicures, pedicures, facials and massages, right downtown! I had two days to myself in December before hubby joined me, so I treated myself to a mani and pedi. I fell asleep during the foot and leg massage part, so I am going back in October and booked the whole massage!

Check out Andrea's website and tell her I sent you! You won't regret it and it's like 300x more relaxing than the clothes on, group arena spa gig!
