I was window shopping for my next trip and I noticed that the week of July 4th was pretty inexpensive. This was at Wynn, including the Saturday leading up to it. Why is that? Is it the heat? Is there anything that the strip does for July 4th?

July can be brutally hot and things kind of slow down. I used to go every Labor Day for the same reason, I got an extra day off work for the holiday and it was really cheap. There are various fire works displays that can be viewed including from the strip.

How inexpensive is inexpensive? Have always wanted to stay at Wynn, and would like to see if this could justify a July trip to the holy land.

$245 a night including the Saturday stay. Normally weekends are ridiculous. The last two times I went to Vegas I stayed at Wynn and did the air/hotel package and saved another $300 or so over the same flight ( JetBlue ) booked separately or as a JetBlue package. Also, I have gotten the $200 resort credit, which is basically pay $100, get $100 to be used for food or beverage. It's not cheap but inexpensive by Wynn standards.

Vegas is starting to do more for the 4th but doesn't have the rep for celebrations. I think closer to July, rates will get higher since it's already a three day weekend but my hunch is the majority of reservations tend to be last minute.

Thanks all. I've been to Vegas in August and it was brutal.

I went 7/7/07. It was 117 one day! But - and I am one to complain way more about summer heat & humidity here than winter cold - it was very tolerable. The old dry heat thing & all.

Can't walk on cement with bare feet or do too much walking in the afternoon sun, but I liked it. And it's like 80 at night! Which is great. I've often thought of going back in July to get out of our humidity.

Although that rate doesn't sound all that cheap for July off the top of my head, but I say go for it!

+1. I live in Florida and I go to LV every July for the express purpose of the weather there being more tolerable. Hotel rates are great, crowds are down (at least on weekdays) and the weather is very enjoyable. My favorite time of the year to go o LV.

I went one year in early August before ankle surgery bc I knew I'd be laid up for awhile. Escaping the heat and humidity of Houston for the dry heat was nice.

Sure it was hot but I'll take that dry heat all day over 95 with high humidity.
