I wanted to go to Vegas for my 35th birthday.
I have went 1-3 times a year for probably the last 10 years (first trip was my 25th birthday!)

I have always went with between 3-10+ people and while never really done the solo Vegas thing a couple of the groups of 3 I envision were very close to what a solo trip would feel like as all 3 of us were gamblers who spent most of the day apart doing our own thing. The only difference I think will be the quick recap each morning of how our days went, how much we were up/down.. and the worst part I think will be the boring time in the airport before boarding the plan.

Anyway I am Canadian so I was unable to convince my usual Vegas buddies to go with me because of the shitty conversion. So I said screw it.. I will try a solo trip

So here is my rough agenda:

-Fly in on Wed Feb 10th and staying 2 nights at The D. I have been downtown many times both during the day and at night but I have never actually stayed the night down there. I have also never signed up for any players cards (with the exception of B-connected that I signed up for out side of Las Vegas)

-On Friday Feb 12th I will switch casinos from The D to Planet Hollywood
    - I then fly out on Monday Feb 15th taking the Red Eye back to Ontario Canada. (Getting back to Ontario around 6:30am on Feb 16th)

Because this is a solo trip I have a few things I want to do.. but no schedule as I want to just go when I feel it.

    List of things to do:

    - First time buying American Casino Guide. So I want to try using a few of the coupons. The D and Golden Gate have some Free play for signing up for a players card., Plaza has a free poker tournament Entry, etc. (obviously since I am solo all the "2 for 1" coupons in the book are useless :p
    - I collect $1 Casino chips from each casino I visit. I plan to take a walk off the strip and visit Tuscany casino, Silver Sevens, and Elis Island. (Ellis Island has some Free play and/or Match play when signing up for a players card)
    - I will Gamble on Poker Tournaments, Blackjack, Let it Ride and slots.
    - I want to try to play a bunch of video poker. I have played before without knowing the strategy. I have been practicing a bit online and am pretty confidant that I can play close to perfect strategy. (There is sill a few that I get wrong but the "Trainer" shows the percentage it impacts your game and after practicing for like 1000 hands I am usually less then 0.5% impacted by bad decisions.)
    - I may hit up a strip club but I just don't know how I feel about going to those alone.. Maybe that is just my nerves getting the best of me.

I am a Diamond member at Total Rewards. (My room is comped along with some minor free play.) My Host put me in the new "Ultra hip room premium Room with a Fountain View" So we shall see what that room is like.

I like seeing shows but am not making any plans until I get there as I am not sure what shows I want to see single. (I think I would enjoy Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, and Million Dollar Quartet. I have already seen Mac King, Penn and Teller, Legends in Concert and a few others that are still around that I cant think of the name) I am open to Shows from other casino brands.

Anyway I am getting excited and I still have over 5 days before I fly out!
Just because.. here is the "official" bankroll photo:

I saw Million Dollar Quartet last month on my solo trip and thought it was great. Enjoy your solo trip and good luck.

Have a good one! I'm contemplating a solo trip soon as well. I've been solo for a day or so on a couple of previous trips from people either getting in after me or leaving a day or so before me but never did an entire trip on my own. I'm on the fence about it so I'm interested to see how you like it.
I'm also from Ontario...too bad our $ sucks so bad...but on the flip side every $1US you win is like $1.40cdn haha You can't lose with a 40% edge! Lol ;)

It wasn't necessarily planned as such but basically did a solo trip a couple weeks ago. It's great being on your own schedule. Only downside is not being able to share the highs and lows with anyone (but I guess that's what a TR is for!). Otherwise, people are so friendly and I'm sure you'll have a great time!

You may want to take a closer look at some of the 2:1 deals in the ACG book. Several coupons offer 50% off if dining alone.

I highly recommend Jersey Boys. Even though the band was never one of my favourites I thoroughly enjoyed the show! They have a very talented cast and the venue is great! ...plus it's right beside PlanetHo.

I did not know that. I will need to skim those coupons again. Thanks for pointing that out :)

The Hollywood Hip Rooms are great. Pretty much all I've stayed in at PH with the exception I was one upgraded to the Panoramic Suite with a $50...

You will love downtown solo. Be sure to touch base with Derek Stevens, the co-owner of the D. He's a pretty cool fella and can usually be seen hanging around the Long Bar in the evening.

It's a lot easier to earn comps downtown. A couple weeks ago, I saw something at the Plaza saying "First $500 on us" when you sign up. I did not have a chance to go in and see about it as we had to get to Happy Hour at MSS (great craft beers and 1/2 price appies).

Oh yeah, and the exchange is brutal! Wife hit the ATM at Mandalay Bay. Drew $600 and with the exchange and fees it was just north of $900.

Have a great trip and win baby!

Not sure if the promo is still going on but last time was my very first time in downtown and I did the Plaza 500 on us promo. Lost 500 on slots and they give you 250 free play 24 hours later and another 250 free play 24 after that. Was able to make my 500 loss into a slight positive but also lost some on the craps table because I couldn't pass up 10x odds so net loss at Plaza but def a good promotion especially for somebody who never plays slots.

If you do a live TR you can take us along with you! I'm from On as well, a solo Vegas trip is on my list of things to do one day. I think it will be great. Have a great time.

Can't wait to hear how you do!! You have a very ambitious itinerary. I try to only do solo trips these days (except I have friends show up &/or live/work there). Go check out the plaza when downtown, they will match your comp from another hotel. May want to use for a future trip. If you get to the Golden Gate before 6PM on the 10th go sit at the bar and meet Valeria (bartender), you won't be sorry.
