    Hello All -

My wife and I have stayed at the Cosmo 3 times over the past 2-3 years, and going back in November of this year. Each time we stay in a Terrace One Bedroom. I recently checked my identity status and I am in the gold tier. To others more familiar with the Identity program (or these programs in general), does Gold Tier really mean much? We are not big gamblers, but do play slots and blackjack occasionally. When I call to book my stay in November, would I be best served calling the Identity desk and booking through them or just calling the reservation line? To summarize what I am really asking, can I leverage my gold tier status into any special treatment? Or am I just one of the masses? I always see people referring to their "host", but I have never come across one in any of our stays. Thanks guys!

Gold tier does have some nice benefits especially if you don't generate any offers from gambling.

You are entitled to 2 nights free a year as well as 2 nights for a companion (when you have a reservation for the same dates)

In my experience as a Platinum identity member (achieved through hotel spend vs gambling) there isn't much difference making reservations via identity or the hotel, but it never hurts to check.

The free nights are pretty significant in my opinion and in addition you get other good perks like 2 for 1 wicked spoon dining and more importantly comped resort fees.

A host would be reserved for those who have significant gambling and would be privy to offers above and beyond your tier status.

Being Gold isn't going to get you any special treatment by itself.

There's a listing of Gold benefits on their website. I don;t think the Identity Desk will book a reservation, they'll just transfer you to the regular reservations line.

One of the Gold benefits is two comp nights on top of any comp offers you get from casino marketing (via email or mailers). Those Gold comp nights are good for a basic room and generally can be used any night of the week except for certain weekends. You can upgrade the room type of the Gold comp nights by paying an upgrade fee.

Tell me what kind of offers you already get from the casino in terms of room comp offers, how long your November stay is, and roughly when you reached Gold and I can piece things together.

I am only sterling and have used the free night I get every year over some pretty expensive weekends. It is definitely a good way to add a nice hotel to your itinerary. Other than that you don't have to pay a resort fee and there is a VIP line for your reservation available but if you don't have the card you may have to call their main line and get transferred over.

Thanks for your help! I get monthy emails from the cosmo. Most recently it was an offer for a free 2 night stay in November-December 2015. They are usually offers for tickets, or a night free, or some resort gaming credit. I reached gold tier in February of 2015 I believe. Our trip this upcoming November will be from Wed Nov 9th to Sun Nov 13th, so a pretty slow time (I think), although Veteran's Day happens to fall on November 11th, so we will be there for it.

If you reached gold in February 2015 it's good until feb 2016. At which time they look to see your tier points over the past year and assign you a tier. Ask them for your anniversary date so you'll know when your status resets.

When booking call the number in the email that has the room offer or the one on the back of your identity card. You can book the gold tier nights and mailer offer nights back to back as well. Im doing that for April. But I've found that your offer needs to include the dates so it's still pretty far out to have an offer that covers November 2016.

I've booked a cheaper hotel for the time being and when the Cosmo offer came in I booked and then canceled the other hotel. I just wanted the contingency in case an offer didn't come through or if they were sold out.

If you dont mind me asking, how much play did you churn out in your weekend visits to hit gold/sterling?

Not much at all. We have a gambling budget of around $1000 for a 3 day trip. We'll sit and play some $15-$25 blackjack for an hour or so. Hit some wheel of fortune slots for another hour or so. Walk around a bit. Nothing major. However the wife does use the spa, and that can get pricey so we get those points too.

If you reached Gold in Feb 2015, your Gold comp nights for the 12 month period are going to expire this month. Have you stayed there since?

You would need to have earned another 20,000 tier credits since last Feb in order to maintain Gold for another year and thereby have Gold comp nights in hand to use in November.

Bayou's correct in that Cosmo has a short promo cycle - offers usually only cover a two or three month window. But they should keep coming as long as you don't do anything to damage your rating.

If you somehow did re-qualify for Gold status going forward, this is what I'd suggest:

You wait until you have the marketing offer for 2 nights that includes your dates. You call and tell them you want to:
    • Use the marketing nights for Weds - Thurs
    • Use the Gold nights for Fri - Sat
    • Pay for Sunday (if you're an AAA member, mention it, there's a discount).
    • Upgrade all nights to a One Bedroom Terrace

Hopefully you won't run into any problems using Gold nights for Fri-Sat (if you're still Gold). Veterans Day should not be a factor, it hasn't been a "three day weekend" type holiday for many years.

If you're not Gold going forward, then the next best you can hope for is that you can use your marketing comp offer for the two most expensive nights; the offer itself should mention whether it's good only for Sun - Thurs.
