When I bet on craps I bet 15 on the pass line with max odds 5x at my local casino and up to an additional two points at 15 + max odds. But I feel that this strategy does not make sense for some reason. I will have up to 350+ at times on the line and one roll of 7 and I am at a total loss but it would take a min of two points being made for me to break even on my initial bet and a 3rd point to make money. Am I missing something. I don't bet place or Center bets. Thanks

Pass line with full odds is as good as it gets in craps in terms of house edge (actually don't is a tiny bit better). Don't forget you make money on 7/11 vs. 2,3,12 on the come out roll as well.

I hear some Vegas properties don't honor the 12 on the come out for the Don't player. Anyone have an idea which?

I play different strategies at different times. But where I've been the luckiest has been with a modified "iron cross", where I play PL+ Odds, then points on 5-8 (and sometimes 9). I will press the place bets with each hit, generally 1 unit on first couple hits, then 2 units. I'll also add the field from time to time. Its a lot of money on the table, but starting small and pressing allows me to capitalize on a hot table without risking as much on those dreaded PSO.

As for the 12 on the come out with Don't, I'm unaware of any casino that pays 12 on the don't come out roll, but I never play the darkside at a real table (bad karma), so don't pay much attention.

I don't play the dark side either but every table I've been at has the "bar 12" on it for the wrong way bettors.

I've never heard of anyone paying the dont player on a 12 during come out. It's a push. This has been in Vegas and outside.

There are some that push on 2 instead of 12. Harrahs in Tahoe is this way. But for the most part it is bar 12 at most places

When I play your style I do not put my odds money out until my 3 points are up. I then put my odds out. This means you are protected against a 7 out on the first 2 rolls after the point is set. You win less if your point is made in those 2 rolls, but it does save alot of odds money on a cold table.

I am not a big believer on playing full odds and 3 come bets. My strategy with the come plays with a bigger amt with less odds. Playing the come catches a few 7's and having a table minimum bet is nit a big hedge or payday. My 1st and 2nd come bet is larger bet then my pass bet. Try betting the minimum pass line with full ods then $25-30 on come with 1x or 2x odds. You will see some of your 7 outs losing less do to bigger come wager.

The bankroll to play like this should be at least $2,000

I'm not saying you do or don't bring that to the table, but I see far too many players saunter up to the game with $300, and play that way. They don't stand a chance. "Free odds", is the biggest scam the casino pulled off on craps players. Why? Simply because too many players risk far too much of their bank on them.

If you had $1,000 to gamble with, and I offered to flip a coin for it, and I risked $1,500........You would have the best odds in town on a bet. You would also be foolish to accept the wager. Yet, the casino talks underfunded craps players into risking their wad on "free odds". You either have to have the cash to back those odds, or play around with a couple small place bets, so you can stay in the game.

Just my opinion, but I have watched people go bust time and time again over the last 30+ years at the tables.

Agree with this 100%. The odds play is tricky and a bit overrated. Yes, it does pay-out with a zero house advantage, but unfortunately Big Red is the easiest toss which still puts us at a disadvantage playing the odds.

You guys don't understand math. Yes, you need a big enough bankroll to manage deviation, but free odds are not a scam, they're the best thing there is in casino gambling. sure, a 7 has more likelihood of being rolled than any other number, but that's why you are paid more than even money on your odds (as opposed to your pass line bet). I can't afford to place max odds at a 100X odds table with a $5 min. But, if it was a $1 minimum, I sure as hell would bet max odds every time. Where else can you bet a casino a true odds bet? Answer: you can't. That is why it is crucial to keep your pass or come bet at the minimum and your odds at a maximum you can afford.

I know that a lot of people get nervous about having to hit a number twice to be paid off, which is intuitive thinking, but not logical thinking. Each roll is an independent event. You have just as much chance of hitting your point on the next roll as you did on the roll when the point was established. Now, if you have a pass with odds and 2 come bets with odds, yes, you have a lot of money at risk. However, your odds are the same, a 7 will generally be rolled 6 times out of 36 rolls. A 6 will be rolled 5 times out of 36 and, if your 6 rolls first you get paid 6-5, true odds. Dice are inanimate objects. They don't care which number was rolled in the past, nor do they know if they have bounced of the table previously.

Agreed. I would love to take max odds if I can. But I usually only do 2xs odds sometimes up to 4xs in line with my BR.

The math you not incorporating in is the amount of money you are missing on the come out roll by playing the pass/come at the minimum. In a perfect world we want our money on the table with the best chance of winning, this is on every come out roll.

By skipping this betting opportunity by playing a dollar or 5, you are always betting on the longshot ( when the majority of your money is on the line), and not the favorite.

I understand the math just fine. If you walk up to a $5 table with $30, it's extremely unwise to bet $5 on the line, and take the other $25 as odds.

"Free odds" are only a smart wager if you can afford them. Most players simply can't, but because they have been told what a "smart bet" free odds are, they make the bet.

Next time you are at the a $5-$15 table, watch how many players buy in for $200-$300 and have two or three bets working with full odds. They don't stand a chance.

A short bankroll is exactly why I said the odds are a scam. I even wrote that. Why do you think the casinos offer a wager that they have exactly ZERO advantage on? Is it so really smart players can have a decent shot to take money off of them? No....it's not. They offer it so people put more of their chips on the table faster. The quicker they can get rid of you, the sooner another sucker can belly up and get whacked out. Rinse, repeat.

After a number is set, the casino has every edge over your wager. Why wouldn't they want you shoveling more money out there!? It's the most genius move they have ever come up with.

I am a max odds player for the most part. I will take advantage of the 3-4-5x always, 10x always and 20x most of the time.

Even if I walked up to a $5 table with $50 my choice would be to take full odds because that is where you make your money. How many times have we seen someone loaded up on the PL with no odds? Or with $5-10 behind and a green on the PL?

Of course the odds are against you as a player...but taking the odds in craps will help you really capitalize on wins (so long as you know when to bank it and walk away_

Free odds my ass. It's a scam. You are right, after the point is established I have the advantage sometimes 2:1 as I play the dark side much of the time. We are all going to lose in the end and that's what is sad! Good luck.

If free odds is a scam (designed by the casinos) then why did the Wynn go down to double odds instead of 3X4X5X?
