So we are coming home from the local indian casino the other day, and my wife starts giving me grief that she has picked up what she calls my money OCD behavior. I take all bills and make sure that they are faced, denominations are grouped together, and oldest style bills are used first. She is also getting the no Fifties allowed superstition, although she is not quite as militant about that one as I am.

The other one that she teases me about is when I am at the tables, and there are commemorative chips in the denomination that we are using, typically green chips, I separate them from the normal chips and use them to bet with first.

Anyone else have quirks that they notice when handling money or gambling?

I iron paper money. I like it flat and crisp - much easier to use in machines and on the bus.

I've always faced my bills and sorted them by denomination. I remember showing up for my "shift" at the girl scout cookie stand in front of the local grocery as a kid and seeing our money box and freaking out that the bills weren't faced. Yup, OCD starts early. :haha:

I can't really think of any gaming superstitions. I bring $50's to Vegas if I have them, but I am courteous enough to never use them at the tables. They go into a VP machine. In the few times I've played poker, I have to be meticulous about stacking my chips in a way that I always can glance and see what I've got in front of me.

I always my chips in 10 for easy counting, except for 1 that I shuffle with my busy hands.

I am the same way about facing bills since I used to count deposits at my old job they always had to be faced.

Same here in my wallet. I worked in retail for my early years and all bills in every compartment ALL had to facing the way. It bugs the hell out of me now to go to a bank, or even a Vegas cashier and the bills aren't facing the same way when they count them out. Some cashiers correct as they go, but others don't care.

I rarely pay cash for anything, everything goes on the CC, but I can only imagine what happens at local cash registers when making change.

I don't think it discourteous to use them at tables as long as there are an even number of them. They're just 100s when used in pairs. '

I love throwing $500 in 20s out on the craps table.

if the register didn't show the amount of change back i'd venture half the people couldn't count back the change...never mind if you add say a quarter when the total purchase is something like $23.09 you can almost hear the brain melting.:evillaugh

Same as most of you guys with bills.

They are all in denomination order, with smallest at the front, and all the heads have to face the same way

    While in VEGAS ---
I do make sure all the denominations are grouped together --
in my gamblin' money wad ( held together with 2 rubber bands - stuffed under a bandana in my front pants pocket ).
I learned early on, in VEGAS -- you can easily, mistakenly, drunkenly, hand over a large
bill - and feel really stupid -...... if..... you catch yourself ?

I once aligned bills and arranged by denom, but it doesn't really matter to me anymore.

Love this thread. My money too is all in order by lovwest domination to largest with the heads together. One thing that I do that drives my wife crazy is that I continously count my money. I don't stick it out, I count it in my wallet. And, often have to re-count because some bills stick together.

Well...it is not OCD behavior but I do have to sort out U.S. money and have the twenties in one spot and the smaller bills in another. Your money all looks the same....lol

After you have tipped a twenty instead of a one you tend to start sorting things.:wink

I wish we had pretty money like our neighbors to the north. I love all the colors. I still can't do the math to convert the exchange rate, but I do like the pretty colors. Oh, and the loonie and toonie coins! Love those!

I keep my cash organized by denomination too...ones on top and hundreds in the back so when I put them in my clip the ones show.

Other than that I don't really do much. I do keep chips marked off with whites at the craps table so I know how much I have in the rack

At roulette I stack chips in 10's. And like rocky I arrange chips in the rail so I can quickly count.

Growing up as a kid of a bank teller I organize my bills by denom and they face the same way. I also typically organize them with lowest denom in front so it's easier for me to grab singles for tips.

Putting money in order and all facing the same way-- either in your Vegas bankroll or in your wallet for everyday--

    isn't ODC--it is just smart.

Have you ever been behind someone who throws all the money into the bottom of the purse and is pulling it out a handful at a time??
