Going for a weekend, the end of Feb. What is the best way to rent a car? Any coupon codes? Inexpensive, compact type car. Do I just look at Expedia?

google: 'car rental discount codes' to get a bunch of codes from different companies. Write them down. Then go to kayak.com (it's a mega-search engine) and it will use Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, et al, to see what you can get from the car companies. Don't book, just window shop. Now go to the car rental company's home site and use the code that's appropriate to get the best rate. When you're happy with the final rate, book it at the company site so that you can cancel easily.

If are a Costco member try Costco travel.

Also try autoslash, they find great rates then email you later if they find a better rate and you can rebook with one or two clicks.

    I've had great luck with
    http://www.carrentalsavers.com

It searches all major brands with existing coupon codes, books your res with no CC required, easily cancelled, and you can still use your own rewards number through whichever rental agency you book. I've used it for every trip we have taken for the last several years with no problem.

Carrentals.com shows all the companies and the current costs. I always start there and when I find the lowest rate, go to that companies website where it is the same. I never have luck with finding discount codes, even though I try.

Once you book put reservation into autoslash.com. they will track it and email you on a price drop from all companies in vegas at LAS. You can rebook and they will still track it until your trip.

Went from 93 at fire fly to 73 at advantage and 10 days before my trip 55 at advantage.

Just don't use a prepaid not refundable rez

We are going to Vegas the 2nd week of Feb. and for some reason the car rental prices are very high. I guess it is the Valentines week maybe. It was suggested on here to split m rental up so I ended up renting it Mon thru Thur then returning it and renting Thurs. and returning to airport for departure on Friday. Kind of a pain but saved over a $130.00 by doing it this way. Also I am returning on thursday to the Golden Nugget and re-renting at the same casino instead of having to go back to Airport. GOOD LUCK while in Vegas.....

I always check all of the various places but the lowest price for me is always through Costco. I know people who join ($55) that aren't anywhere near a Costco, they want travel discounts. Costco also offers an additional driver for free, most places charge for that in the $10 a day area.

you can also try advantage rent a car. code DCCLICK for a 5% discount on your rental. Not sure but Costco prices seem to be high this year for vegas.

I booked a couple of weeks ago through Costco for a week in June and it was the cheapest. Now I see it's up $50. Didn't check the other companies to see if they went up too.

    Hey Now!
Prices do seem to have risen in the last couple of years. I rented a standard size car from Avis 2/10-20 for $281 using AARP plus a $30 per week discount.
Most I've ever paid for a 10 day rental in Vegas....

The biggest tip I can give is....whatever you book...keep checking back. Every year I save money by cancelling and rebooking in the last week before my trip. Quite often rates drop as your date nears...of course not during a peak week. I agree prices rise every year...last year was the most we have spent so far. We belong to Dollar and Alamo and go with their member rates, they don't get reasonable until 6-8 weeks before our trip.
