Do both. Phil's Italian Steakhouse at TI is very good, within your price range, you can get away with quasi-causal attire (polo and shorts) and it's nice enough for the occasion.

For Italian............Martorano's in Paris has a 3 course fixed price menu for $50. The discontinued it during CES, but will bring it back shortly. I also like Rao's in Caesars.

Charlie Palmer Steak in the Four Seasons in the Mandalay Bay has the Cut of the Week menu. 3 course meal with sides and unlimited wine for $58 a person. Best deal on the strip!!

For a nice Italian place on the Strip, Trevi at Caesars Forum comes to mind immediately. Great for people-watching too.

Another is Bootlegger, which is arguably on the Strip. :)

    And, LOL, there's always Battista's. :) :)

For steak, I would suggest Golden Steer at Sahara and LVB. Very "Old Vegas" in ambiance.

BLT Steak in Ballys is very good and reasonably priced. We dine there every time we're in Vegas. I also agree on Raos inside Caesars for Italian.
