Have any of you dengens stayed/played at either Turning Stone or Vernon Downs near Rome NY? If so, how were they? I used to fly out of Griffiss AFB and my old crew is planning a 25 yr Desert Storm reunion this summer. We were thinking about staying at one of the casinos. Any feedback or info would be greatly appreciated.

Wife and I have stayed at both, but not recently. Vernon Downs is slots only with horse racing in season. The hotel was OK...clean, comfortable, but nothing special in my memory. Food choices were limited to a buffet (OK, Not great) and a snack bar type restaurant. Turning Stone is much more a full casino with slots, a poker room, bingo hall and most (if not all) table games. The hotels range from a high end luxury to an off-site comfortable inn (with complimentary shuttle). In season there are several golf courses associated with the property (one of them used to host a PGA fall series event) Many food choices (food court to steak house) and often top rate entertainment. I'm sure that there would be meeting or conference rooms available for group use.

If you want to play VP at all, you'd definitely want to go to Turning Stone. New York state racinos don't offer VP lthe same way Vegas and most of the country does. All wins are predetermined and strategy is worthless at NY racinos.
