Slots Spending time on the slots

So since the topic came around about why people still gamble on the slots if they always lose, I figured I would start this up.

How long does everyone typically stay on a slot machine before they leave? I will admit that sometimes I get impatient because I'm always hoping for the bonus; then feel after reel of nothing I just give up, which more times than none makes me a loser at slots.

I'm asking this, because I do like slots and I know everyone has different opinions but just thought I would figure out how long everyone typically stays on slots until they feel they have had enough and don't want to suck anymore money in a machine and just go onto the next. Also, how much do you typically spend in one sitting at a slot machine as well? I know it varies.

 

I will try every wild cherry $1 machine that I see and usually a few double diamond and triple stars that I'm drawn to.

I usually don't put more than $20 in a machine unless I really have a feeling I'm going to hit something. On any other machines, I may only play $5 and walk. If I hit $50 or more, I may stick around a little longer.

 

I have no "typical". Sometimes I will play for a minute or two and just not feeling it, and move on. Other machines I have sat at for an hour, or more.

 

I'm like 1LuckyMomma, I'll play EVERY triple double wild cherry machine I come across, I'll usually put a hundy in it and see what happens. At the worst, I've lost the whole hundy, at best I won $900 on the one at Rio. All I have found are $1 machines.

 

with VP machines ive been known to sit there for hours, with slots I tend to not stay long because I dont trust slot machines, (my wife plays penny slots) but she generally will only sit for 20 minutes tops before moving to something else

 

This is a good topic. For me I go crazy when I'm sitting at a machine and people come up and stick a voucher in and spin 3-5 times and cash out. Then there's me. I sit there and wait and wait and wait because I think the machine owe's me!! Then it's 2 to 3 hundred later and I wish I left awhile ago. I never know when to leave

I only play a handful of different machines. High-variance video slots (Davinci & Cleo II), and lower variance single-line reels (Double Diamond).

Sessions on the high-variance machines tend to be shorter because you can either get up or down substantially relatively fast, an hour maybe, or less.

The low variance machines I've put in 4 hour sessions on. They're generally easier to ride out if you get down early and you rack up a lot of coin in.

There's too many shitty bonuses on the newer machines, I usually avoid them.

 

If I hit a bonus within the first few spins I'll stay on for quite a bit or until the $$$ is gone. If say within the first $20 I don't hit a bonus or a random pay I'll get up and move onto something else.

I also should note that here at my home Mlife casino I typically play the same 5-8 slot machines when I go and try to hit them all every trip. I'll play the Britney machine, The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Wolf Run, Queen of the Jungle and a few others. Always play the max on a machine and take it from there.

 

Not a big slot player, but my play is based on the amount I put in. Typically I put in $10-20 and if I hit something big I will play for a while and set a mental stop-loss limit, but if I don't hit anything when that small buy-in is gone I'm off to the next machine or to play something else.

For example, at my local casino this weekend I had $10 cash back from the casino, put it in a slot and played $2 max bet. On second spin started hitting bonuses and was up to $125. Set a stop-loss limit of $100. Almost got there but then hit another couple bonuses and made it up to $290ish, so I set another stop-loss limit of $250. Went up and down a bit, but finally hit $250 and cashed out. After playing some craps I had a few minutes to kill and put $15 into a Cleo II, $1 per spin. Didn't hit anything big and my $15 was gone in 5 minutes = time to go.

Less time playing slots the better!

 

I try not to stay at a machine that isn't paying but I can get caught up in the "this thing is due for a payout" mindset. I've often hit something good by playing one more $20, but I've chased $100 through with nothing too. I tend to play $40 max and if it's not paying anything I move on.

 

Sparky4....Next time you're there try the banks right by the stairs where the shuttle drops off @ Gold Coast. They've always been good to me.

I think that is exactly why the slot manufacturers make machines with somewhat frequent but small pay outs. When I play those machines - like the Buffalo's - I think how B.F. Skinner is laughing from his grave. I would be very surprised if a slot machine company doesn't employ a psychiatrist or a team of them to enhance the biopsychosocial aspects of the slot machines.

I have a loss limit or a win limit on a machine - and within those parameters a fun limit - if it isn't fun time to change machines.

 

It's like pavlov's dog, we hear the bells and whistles....and the dopamine is flowing.

 

I usually put in $100 and will play it through. There are a few machines, like Jewel of the Dragon/Sea Goddess I will usually play until I get a bonus, which can be several hundred, but it's just so fun haha. If I hit something decent sized quickly, I'll usually walk away. If I'm playing for a while and hit something, I'll keep playing until I'm out or back even for that machine.

 

I'm the 3-5 spin person sometimes. If a machine doesn't pay me a cent in 3-5 spins then I cash out. I will also cash out on a win over $50, I may put in another $20 and try again depending on the amount of the win. I want the machine to just let me play for awhile without just sucking my money away quickly.

Yep, the thing now with some of the newer machines you win every spin .10 cents, on a $3-$5 a pull
bing bang boom, gives a false sense of up/down..... as you didn't even win a free spin.

 

I tend to graze quite a bit. I'll usually cash out right after a big payout. Otherwise I'll wait until my bill ($5 $10 $20) runs out. I'll NEVER put another bill into a machine when it runs out.

 

Lol, why yes it sure did. Only once out of hundreds though. That one made up for all the ones that didn't work out luckily. Trouble is I think I can do it again!!!
