I just purchased round trip tix on SWA for my eight day trip in Mid July. Round trip in the $350 area, that's a no brainier. The past few summers during the same week the fares have been up around $500. It's so nice to pay for the airline tix, check the box, and move on to other pre trip to do items. All this at six months out!!! love it.

Airfare is supposed to come down this year. With oil so low, they have to compete with driving as an alternative again.

I'll be going out in May from Cincinnati, non-stop both ways on Allegiant for $125 RT. Granted it's Allegiant, and I'm not paying for any extras (I can make a three-day trip with only a personal bag), but still, I haven't seen prices like this since just after 9/11.

Funny... I had noticed this post earlier and thought it said "expensive". Reading problems.

Prices aren't that low out of my hometown but SW is the only airline that flies NON STOP from Buffalo to Vegas so SW is keeping prices for those flights up there. If I were willing to book a flight on any of a number of other airlines with one stop from Buffalo to Vegas the price would drop by 40%!

Glad you lucked out though and I know EXACTLY how you feel. I love love love when all of the major logistics for a trip come together well in advance and then you can just fill in the fun details in at your leisure.

Maybe for those in Buffalo it might be worthwhile to drive to Toronto to take advantage of the low Canadian Dollar. Now its your turn - gone are the days when we would fly out of Buffalo to save $ - not the case today!!

Also lots of direct flights to choose from.

For Super Bowl weekend, I saw flights out of New York on major carriers that were less than $200 R/T. I personally booked it for about $240 and thought I got a great deal; I think I paid $550 for my Thanksgiving trip. It's fantastic.

Prices from DTW to LAX are at $150 RT on Spirit right now. They have been as low as $89 RT.

Yeah, pretty sweet deal especially since its a direct flight. Food, luggage and seat reservation were included in that price.

Ive heard last minute delays of 36-48 hrs are commonplace for them...hence the cheap fares....watch their weekly direct flights for the next few week to be sure if they leave on time

Im not worried about that at all. Like all airlines they had a lot of problems with the dreamliner when it first came on the market. I fly with them all the time but the first time on the dreamliner was on a NYC trip a couple of months ago with no issues, its a beautiful aircraft. Either way on this tip I'm not on a tight schedule since I'm on vacation so an extra day in Vegas won't be a problem.

Was thinking about other options but tix are for my mother, who has physical challenges so I want to minimize travel for her, and my niece, who hates flying, who will be with her, so 10 minute car ride to the Buffalo airport and SW non stop it is! Toronto though I agree is a good alternative for many, or a connecting flight out of Buffalo on another airline for a lower fare.

Yea - 10 minutes drive to airport is got to be worth something!

We're only 10 minutes from Toronto so savings have to be pretty good to drive to Buffalo and that had been the case for awhile.

Our low dollar still doesn't stop us from heading to seneca in niagara - crazy I know! So Vegas it will be for us a couple of times this year regardless of the low Canadian dollar - just no shopping for us.

Watch Airlines Prices In A Few Days/Weeks

With the sanctions lifted on Iran and their oil the price of crude oil sank to $28 today, the lowest since 2003.

Airline prices are going to go way down (that is unless they get greedy.) Even if they wish to maintain prices one airline will drop their prices forcing the rest to follow as they now will have to compete with even lower gas prices for travelers.

Just today gas in my metro-area fell .20c a gallon within a matter of 2 hours to be at $1.40/gl and some places in Michigan were at .76c a gallon in a price war.

Should be cheap to fly to Vegas this spring/summer!

Got mine for Saturday-Tuesday in mid April: $240 RT Midway - Las. Looked low enough to me and booked. Didn't want to wait it out and risk a sellout or price increase.
