We have all had those trips where we went with people who refused or failed to bring enough money. Sometimes this was because of unrealistic expectations on their part and sometimes it was because they under estimated the cost of Vegas. This is also not to bash people on limited budgets who are trying to stretch a $. I'm talking culpable acts of cheapness!!!

Sometimes they are relative unknowns in a group. Sometimes they are friends and we should have known better. Often they can drag the dynamic of the group down or have others feeling compelled to alter their plans significantly. Sometimes they are downright toxic and miserable. Sometimes many of us walk the f+ck away from them and say "See you at the airport Monday".

Collectively, we must have some pretty good stuff to share. I will get started with two that jump up at me. One funny in retrospect, one not. To protect the innocent no names shall be given.

Flashback: The scene...The old Frontier. An associate and his wife are staying at the old girl and treating themselves one night to see O at the Bellagio. He and wife get dolled up and stroll into the August heat to....the bus stop?????? Yes....the bus stop. After about 30 minutes in the heat (with the makeup running) she finally turns to her husband and states "If you don't get me a cab we are going to get a divorce right now". Pay for tickets to what was at the time the most expensive show in town but take a bus when your lady is all done up in a dress for a big show???? I call that a monumental level of cheapness. It makes for a funny story years later.

Flashback Scene 2: In what was a disgusting display of cheapness and deplorable behaviour: An associate buys himself and a friend a drink. The other dude who just got the FREE drink, takes the $1 tip that was left for the server when he thought the purchaser of the drinks was not looking. Hence in my mind, trying to make $1 on a free drink transaction. That was not funny and was addressed rather aggressively by this writer and our crew. This associate may or may not be partaking of any events with our group again.

Anyone else have some fun or disturbing examples of cheap or value oriented behaviour?

This should be a good thread - nice idea to start it!

One friend is fairly well off. He will buy $1000 first class plane tickets and pay for rooms but will take the damn shuttle bus to the hotel to save $10.

Another, while we were at NYNY, needed to hit the ATM. He wanted to go all the way down to Casino Royale because it only charges a buck. He cancels his transaction at NYNY and then asks me to front him $500 until he can make it to CR.

I was having breakfast at the buffet at the Flamingo a number of years ago. We were sitting beside a table of 2 twentysomething couples. When it came time to pay one of the girls said that they didn't have to tip. The other 3 went along with this. I still remember this and am ticked off at myself for not saying anything.
Its not nice to screw some of the poorest paid workers.

Saw this at "local" casino not in Vegas, but still.... My friend (who gambles very very little) and I were walking around the penny machine area to find her something to play. Right after we sat down we saw this older woman (who obviously had no clue) screaming at the slot attendant because there were no machines where she could play just ONE penny per spin!

Haha yeah every time he's with us we always recite the line from Ferris Bueller talking about Cameron "Cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his ass in two weeks you'd have a diamond"

Yeah I have seen people do that and a couple times I have dropped a couple bucks on the table or left an extra tip for the server and apologized for the people being el cheapo's.

I have 3 that instantly have come to mind.

    1. Group of guys from work go down and a few of us end up at PBR Rock bar. One of the guys is 21 and has lived a very sheltered life. Well him and this girl start talking, they seem to hit it off. The last thing I heard her say to him was "are we gonna fuck or what". With the response of I don't know we will see. He went to the bathroom, I follow, handed him a condom and said you got a slam dunk there don't fuck it up. You could tell he was very nervous, I suspect he was still a Virgin.

The next day we got the full story. Apparently he suggested they go to a strip club because he remembered the guys out front hocking free limo and cover. She agrees to go and he tells her he has to go back to Flamingo to get money from the safe. She doesn't want to go but insists she'll wait of front of PH for him. He runs to the Flamingo and 20-30 minutes later comes back and of course she's gone. When I asked him, why didn't you use the ATM, his response was I thought about it but it's $5 to use.

    2. Beeejay and group were at Holsteins eating one night. At the end of our meal the server asks about bills, we sort out how we want them and she leaves to go in the back to get them. Then that cheap bastard JDogg ran to the back into the servers area. When we came back we asked him wtf was that about. It was because he had like $3 on his card he had to use. Later that night he drug Borat around half the night looking for a $5 craps table.

    3. Group of us have a dinner rezzo at Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse at the nugget. Most of us have the $50 distinctive (great deal by the way). Our one friend looks over the menu for awhile and orders the cheapest salad on the menu. Shortly after we are in the casino and he sneaks off to go eat a $1 chicken sandwich from Mickey D's.

    4. Lastly I once saw someone ask for $10 to take an uber so they could come gamble with the person they were asking :)

    Nice thread Gaggles!!!

So ez to identify your culprits and so many additional stories from the same two come to mind!

Where is Karma giving us non-cheapos two royals in 10 minutes!?!?

The other guy hasn't been so lucky has he??? Hahhaha

I'm gonna have to go with the following stories:

One gentleman no longer a part of our crew chasing the Holsteins server back into the kitchen to apply points before she closed out the check. I have that on film somewhere too, along with the crew berating said offender after!

I've got a great one from a buddy who was out of cash and challenged to a prop bet by another. This guy was so cheap escrow was required on his bets so he was required to hit the ATM to lay down his cash at the time the other dude accepted his bet offer. Well he proceeds to amend the bet to require the other guy to pay his ATM fee for the escrow withdrawal. The other guy hands him $2, he pulls out the cash and gives to the neutral party without ever hitting the ATM. That was a classic and we all died laughing.

The all-time Classic has to be one notorious penny-pincher who would take all prop bets for cash. Two weeks before the Vegas trip I had a cookout. Apparently a sausage fell off the grill into a bush. A few days later we found ourselves in the same spot having beers and the crew challenges this guy to take a bite of the two-day old sausage for $20. He did it! The next week we find ourselves in Vegas, of course at Frontier of all places, back by the sportsbook snack shop along the walkway to our room. Someone spies a spilt sandwich basket where a passerby has stepped on an abnormally long crinkle cut French fry leaving half group into the carpet and half standing erect (unlike gaggles penis). We all chip in and offer this guy $50 to eat the entire French fry NO HANDS. Tons of people watching, HE DID IT!!

    Sometimes cheapos can be heroes!

Fortunately I don't have any personal stories to contribute as I travel with a pretty good group. However, I remember a guy who posted a bachelor party TR who used GoT characters for names. "Reek's" cheapness was pretty epic!

We notice this happening quite often since my wife loves going to the buffet for breakfast. One morning at the Spice Market we were seated next to a large table that appeared to be a family. When they were finished the older gentleman put down some money for a tip and after they walked away one of the other family members comes back to the table and picks up the tip and puts it in his pocket. My wife called him out on it but he just slithered away like the lowlife he was. Since then my wife makes sure I hand our tip to our waitress.

It would be worth your while to find that TR. It was pretty funny and the extent of Reek's cheapness was epic.

I think it is hilarious that BeeeJay and Macker both posted the same story at virtually the same time about the dude trying to use his points

Used to bowl with a guy who had won $1,000,000 in the lottery. We were in Vegas with him and his wife once and played some VP, and they wouldn't tip the server. I decided I wasn't going to play alongside them any longer. Bastards

The best part of that story was that he wasn't even trying to use points, he chased the waitress into the kitchen just to get the tier points for everyone's bill put on his card, even though we had individual bills.

Now the story behind his cheapness makes sense.

This would end all association I have with this person entirely. Once the tip is put down, it belongs to the server. They basically STOLE money...and are willing to risk reputation over a $1 gain. How could you trust someone like that in any matter of consequence?
