Best casino for a resort credit?

Surprisingly (to me, at least,) it looks like my best bet for a upcoming weekend in Vegas is going to be through MLife. Trying to decide between an almost identical rate at Mandalay Bay or MGM or a slightly higher rate at Mirage or Delano. All of the offers include a resort credit which I assume has to be used at the hotel. I am not much on "fine dining" so would lean towards casual dining places or maybe a buffet to use those credits. Have stayed at the Mirage before and am OK with their selection of restaurants. I know there must be dozens of choices at MGM and I would guess Mandalay would have quite a number as well. Which would you choose? And could I use my credit at the Delano at Mandalay Bay? Very limited choices directly connected to the Delano so that might be a deal-breaker.

 

1 - How much resort credit are we talking about?
2 - Where do you PREFER to play?
3 - How much do you play over the course of your trip?
4 - Since Delano only has 1-3 options in total, I would think all of M-Bay is included.

 

I'd lean toward the MB/Delano options. If you end up at a west wing room at MGM, they are small. More like an efficiency. Mirage base room can't compare with either a MB or Delano room IMO. Assuming the resort credit is modest, you'll find plenty of places to use it regardless of your choice. Seems like we used our Delano food credit at MB sports book last year.

 

It's only $50 that I would be using over 2 days/nights so a couple two or three meals tops. The room at the MGM is listed as a Grand King. The only time I stayed at the Mirage, it was at an upgraded room (Resort Tower King) which was quite nice. I also enjoy playing there but I think it is just because I've had pretty decent luck. Even though they are the more expensive options, I am leaning towards either Mirage or Delano as it isn't that much.

 

The location at the Mirage is better too, depending on what you're going to be doing.

 

You will get more bang for your buck at mgm because of the wide variety of food. The grand king rooms are very nice, on parr with mirage base room. They have been newly renovated and i love their pillows so much i bought some. I love the mirage but for a $50 credit, it will go further at mgm with more options.

$50 is one meal - two at the outside.

Pick the place where you want to stay, play, drink, etc. Resort credit is a blip in the big picture of gambling, transportation, tips, drinks.meals, shows, etc.

 

Having never (in over 30 trips) stayed on the south end of the Strip, I kind of want to go with one of the MGM/MB/Delano options. Thanks for the info on the Grand King rooms. They sound like they would be a good option. Two final questions: How are the "generic" rooms at Mandalay Bay? It is my understanding they have all been remodeled in recent years. Can anyone confirm that? And can anyone confirm that the (admittedly minimal) resort credits from the Delano can be used at Mandalay Bay?

 

I think most, if not all rooms have been remodeled at MB within the past year. So everything is fresh. I would say the bathroom is a bit nicer than MGM's Grand King room, but overall both rooms are similar.

You should be able to use the resort credit at MB. I've used mine in the past for various restaurants. Unless it explicitly says what it can and can not be spent on, you should be ok.

 

If you really do want to avoid any kind of "fine" dining, MGM may be a better option. I absolutely love Mandalay's restaurant collection, but their "casual" options, in particular thinking of Citizen's, are only so-so (although I'm apparently the one heathen on this board who isn't a big fan of Border Grill). That said, I think pretty much every other aspect of Mandalay is better, in particular the rooms, the pool, and the casino.

The tram from MB to Excalibur makes it pretty easy to get to NYNY and MGM, the only drawback are hours. I believe the tram stops running at midnight during the week and like 2 or 3 on the weekends.

 

At this point, I stop running before Midnight most every night too so I don't think that will be a problem.

 

Decided to go with the Delano, just because of the big, beautiful rooms/suites. Can't wait to check it out. Everyone's input here was very helpful. Thanks so much!

 

Hahaha, understandable. I think you'll like the Delano. The basic suite is great, nice and quiet. If you're going during the warmer months, the Delano pool club is nice as it's fairly easy to grab a seat there.

 

Was this a generic mlife offer that covered multiple properties, or did it say mlife resort credit? If so you should be able to use it at any mlife location that can charge back to room. I just had $75 at Delano/MB and spent it at five50 at aria, pub 1842 at mgm, and at the Mandalay sports book. I asked when I checked in, said it could also be spa, just couldn't use it on retail purchases.

 

It was just listed as "Mlife Winter Offer." The offer was different for each casino but only the higher end resorts included the credit. I had never really stayed or played much at any of their resorts until a few months back when I spent a night at the Mirage and gambled a decent amount. Honestly, I think I'd rather get a very nice room at a good discount than the mediocre rooms I used to get for free with CET. One final question: Can you normally use a resort credit on room service? Almost thinking that just a couple of overpriced pots of coffee and a little morning snack would be worth it.

 

I've used resort credit on room service. Should be no problem.
