First of all I want to thank Joe and other members on this board for sharing information about the Wax bus.

I've learned that I can catch the Wax downtown and ride it to the Suncoast and back. I'd like to do this on my next trip. I think it's a great and frugal way to visit another Boyd Property.

Question: When in the Bus do I have to "ring" a buzzer to signify that I want to get off? Or does the Wax stop at each terminal anyway? If I have to ring a buzzer can someone tell me what to look for (Street, Ave, etc.) so I can ring it in advance.

I don't want to miss the stop! I know that I'll be able to see the Suncoast way in advance but you know how everything looks close in the desert. I don't want to be embarrassed ringing it too soon!

    Thanks!!

Suncoast is the last stop. You can't miss it.

I could be wrong but I thought that they announced each stop on the bus. I am also not a veteran rider, but it seems to me that they stop at all the stops no matter what. I would think that Suncoast would not be a stop that the WAX would pass by under any circumstance. Where are the bus gurus?!

The few times I've taken the WAX from the airport to downtown, they did skip a stop or two along he way when there were no riders waiting at the stop & nobody buzzed to get off.
But the stop at 4th and Carson? They stop there regardless. I would imagine Suncoast is the same...

Yeah, Suncoast and the Terminals they will definitely stop. But yeah, non time-point stops they will keep going if they don't see people wanting to get on, so I would ding generally to be safe. Also learned the hard way that the WAX southbound doesn't stop along Tropicana in front of Hooters, but the northbound stops in front of MGM??? That cost us about an extra $9 for a cab from Hooters.

You won't have to ring the buzzer for the stop at Suncoast. As it's the end of the line, the bus always stops there - then it usually has a 5-10 minute break there.

If you come out of Suncoast to take the bus back downtown and you're earlier than the departure time, some drivers will not even let you on the bus until a few minutes before it leaves, other drivers don't mind. I think it may be a scheduled break time for the drivers.

On the way back downtown, I can't recall ever having to ring the buzzer but certainly ring it if you have any doubt. The buzzers are located on the poles. You can see the buzzers in this photo, I missed circling the last one on the right.

On the way back, the bus will stop at the Westcliffe transit centre and then travel down the freeway to the next stop outside Binions. I'm pretty sure it stops there anyhow but if you have any doubts, just wait till the bus leaves the freeway and enters downtown, then ring the buzzer. Or just ask the driver on the way back when you hop on the bus. More than likely they'll only be a couple people boarding at Suncoast and the drivers have always been friendly.

I'll be doing the WAX to Suncoast this week too. It's an enjoyable ride from downtown.

Northbound doesn't really stop at MGM. The stop is Tropicana & Koval, close to MGM's parking garage, still very far from the east entrance.

    gambler is completely correct.
you won't have to buzz at either Suncoast or downtown (Binions). Since always many people waiting (other buses also stop there) or just lingering around, the bus always stops. No worry.

Thank you so much. You guys are really the best!! Makes me feel more secure about it and more confident.

And special thanks to Gambler for posting the pic and circling where the buzzers are.

Best wishes and Good Luck to all of you on your next trip!!

It's a little off subject but have any of you veteran WAX riders gotten the driver who gives out sandwiches to homeless guys riding? It's been a couple years but I hope he is still doing it. We rode from downtown to the airport a could years ago and sat toward the back of the bus. There was a guy riding up front who was talking to the driver and after a bit the driver indicated for him to get in the cooler. The rider took out a sandwich and thanked the driver. It was a nice thing to see and I'd like to think he is still doing a small part to help out.

Having said all that, that ride to the airport was the best experience we've had on the bus system there. Granted I think that was #3 and my husband said no more, :) but it was a redeeming ride. Clean bus, nice driver and fast trip.

Northbound, the stop along Tropicana is on the side of New York-New York. The WAX stops at Trop and Koval, continues on Tropicana across Las Vegas Blvd. and then stops alongside NY-NY.

Electroguy, I just got back after taking the WAX from Suncoast numerous times last week and realized I made a mistake telling you to ring the buzzer once you leave the freeway. There is a little used stop at Ogden and Casino Centre so if you ring the buzzer just when you leave the freeway, the bus will stop there. It's not a long walk to Fremont Street but still I wanted to correct what I told you.

The bus does announce the stops before hand so wait until they announce "Fremont Street Experience at Casino Centre" and then hit the buzzer. This is for the stop outside Binions.

If you look at the schedule at this link, it will not list the Ogden stop but scroll down to the map and it will show it there. I've never been on the bus when it stopped there except for once this trip. Also note, that there is a different schedule for weekdays vs weekends and holidays.

How long of a trip is it from Fremont to Suncoast? I've always just taken it to/from the airport to Fremont. Might make the trip on my next trip out there.

20 minutes. It makes 3 stops after 4th & Carson before arriving at Suncoast.

On my last WAX ride from the airport to downtown, it stopped at the MGM Grand then again at NYNY.I knew that it stopped at NYNY but the MGM stop was a surprised and I am not sure if someone requested but I don't think they did because the bus had a set schedule of stops. All my trips have been about 28 minutes, however I didn;t go to LV in 2015.
