My husband and I are going to Vegas at the end of January. We'll be staying at MGM for the first time. Our last 3 trips, all 2008 or prior, we stayed at PH. We loved the convenience and the fact that it was a quick walk to the strip. I'm thinking the walk from the tower elevators at MGM to the strip will be significantly longer than at PH. Is that a correct assumption? Thanks!

I have never stayed at PH...but the walk from the elevators to the strip does not seem long to me. Have fun!

MGM is simply massive to me. I've never gone through there without getting lost. I swear they change the setup each time I'm there.

Its not as bad as people make it out to be. If you are in the main tower is a 2-3 minute walk from the elevators to the strip. I also take that back exit that puts you in the alley behind the grand canyon shops.... then cut through the shop to get to the strip. It you are coming from the main elevators take a right at the sportsbook and there is an exit by the west wing Tower.
I've been staying at MGM for a while now an I don't think its all that confusing.... the first trip or two I used a few key landmarks to make sure I kept my bearings. Know where the sportsbook, casino cage and main lobby are.... then base everything off of that..... its really not all that bad.
Also, make sure you check out wolfgang pucks restaurant....and they are open late night. Prices aren't bad and I am yet to have a bad meal there. The burger is huge and filling. If you like blue cheese, you have to try the truffled chips. and the wood over pizza is really good. I'd say its more that enough for 1 person but might not but quire enough for 2.

I've stayed at the tower both times. First on the 19th floor then on the 18th floor. Yes, the walk is quite a bit from the towers to the strip. My last trip I had a room with a great view of the strip but it was naturally towards the end of the wing so that added more time to the walk. If you don't feel like the walk where the Towers let you out at is right where the main entrance is so you can always grab a cab for a faster trip.

I like to enjoy a burger at Fat Bar (Fatburger) and this time wanted to take in the Pete Rose Bar & Grille and it was about a 15-18 minute walk from my hotel room to the Pete Rose Bar & Grille which is pretty close to PH if that helps. Just be sure to follow the NY NY signage on the overheads for your destination of the Strip.

We managed to get lost and mixed up the first time we stayed at MGM, but now we find it very easy to get around once you get your bearings. It is a huge place but you will do okay, if you do MyVegas make sure you get the rewards for Wolfgang Puck's Restaurant, they do not count towards your 3 rewards and his food is very good, we go every year and yes it looks like a few of us will be at MGM at the same time. Good luck to everyone.

I'm really out of the loop. Is there something going on at MGM that weekend?

We're headed to MGM on Thursday!! (can't flipping wait!!) and this is our first here - we've played there, eaten there and been to shows so I'm really excited to stay there too!

We have lunch reservations at Wolfgang's for our arrival day and I have the BOGO entree thru MyVegas....

I am directionally challenged but DH is really good and knows how to navigate through there so I just hold his hand and let him lead the way!

I think that weekend will be fairly quiet because I believe it is the weekend before Superbowl...but I could be wrong. :)

Like every place else, once you get the layout down, it's not hard to navigate. I don't find the walk too long to get to the strip, but as others point out there are a few shortcuts.
