I got PTSD from Iraq. I sleep horrible and can't seem to shut down the mind to relax. I can only fall asleep with the tv on because the noise distracts my mind. It has been like this over ten years now. Anyways just curious if anyone else can't fall asleep without the tv on.

hate quiet. Don't even mind fremont street noise. Always have tv on to go to sleep. Usually set the timer to go off in a couple hours.

TV has to be on, all night. I have tried to break this habit, but when I do, then every little noise wakes me up. I live in a condo with poor insulation, so there is a lot of noise, from people walking above to doors slamming. I also sleep during the day, which makes it even harder. SO has learned to live with it, but he really doesn't like it. About the only place I leave it off, is when I am vacationing in Mexico, and then I leave the balcony door open and the wave action takes care of the people noise.

My wife is a teevee sleeper, just can't shut down without it. Confuses me as to why, she works on a double screen monitor set up all day so I can't understand more two dimensional screen input would be relaxing. But.....so it is....

Somehow we have a lot of mircle cookers, sham wows, and but waits.....guess I should hide the credit cards.:ssst:

Here too. Hubby will even pack his mini laptop or pad loaded with a few movies when we go camping so he's got some form of TV for bed

Sometimes I sleep better on the couch with the TV on than in my bed.

Always have the TV on, it is also my night lite for finding the remote in the middle of the night.

The funny thing is, when I am in a relationship or shacking up with a lady, it always off. They seem to need the quiet, or like my snoring noise.

    LOL

I used to not even have a TV in the bedroom. Preferred to read. Unfortunately, I have been forced to change my habits. TOugh part is me having to waking up at 530-600 and needing to get some shut eye early and princess wanting to watch late night tv getting up later...guess who suffers???????

My wife says "Any Bob Hope movie puts me right to sleep."
    I've seen her.

Thanks goodness for sound soothers with the White Noise setting. Can't sleep w/o these and they do a great job of blocking the Vegas nightclub noise.

On to sleep for me too. Timer on for 2 hours. Traveling to my sister's house I make her buy cable for my room for the length of time in there.
Op, thank you for your service!

I had some very bizarre dreams with Ambien also. Now I take a low dose Xanax -- works great - no weird dreams and I don't wake up feeling tired. Working nights and switching back and forth from sleeping at night and then sleeping during the day my sleep cycle stays screwed up. I do frequently listen to relaxation thunder storm/ocean sounds to help drift to sleep.
