Staying on the strip but heading to the Mob Museum in the morning which opens at 10 then will wander around for a while downtown.

Will definitely stop in Binions and The Golden Nugget due to the historic value.

Since the time is limited what should be placed on a "must see" list when visiting downtown?

Which place has the better selection of Slots and Craps?

Where would be the recommended photo ops?

Also, we will need a meal while there and what place would you recommend to eat?
The criteria for the meal is easy. Simply a casual place that serves awesome tasting food.
Even a sandwich place or a pizza place but looking for quality in the food.

Love Main Street Station for the 777 Brewery, good video poker, gorgeous woodwork, stained glass and antiques ~ if you're a guy, check out the piece of the Berlin Wall in the men's room! :)

Pizza Rock is a short walk (one short block) from the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. Great food there in a casual atmosphere. Good beer selection too if that's of interest. I recommend going inside and not just getting slices from the take out area. They're two different entities.

I'm a big fan of Le Thai on Fremont (between the canopy and the El Cortez).

I eat there every day when I'm staying downtown.

I highly recommend Le Thai as well but there are so many hot, new restaurants coming online downtown, you have more options than most folks have been able to try.

As for sights, if you don't focus on gaming, you can hit pretty much every casino there pretty quickly. MSS is the one with the most unique sights to see.

Awesome place. Very nice people working there. Sit outside in the back yard. It's great. Hey the pad see ew or pad Thai if you're new to Thai food like I am.

    Pizza rock is great, too.

I second 777 and MSS as a must stop. You can get a self guided antique tour....

    Another recommendation for LeThai, too.

A really lovely little place, with superb food.

I like Pizza Rock as well, but worth checking out next door is the Triple George Grill. A more relaxed atmosphere (Pizza Rock can be a little loud, although in fairness I've never eaten lunch there) and the food is very good at decent prices.

Downtown Grand has a $10 prime rib that is DELICIOUS! Best meal I've had in Vegas.

If you make it to MSS (which I strongly recommend), pick up a little pamphlet at the player's club called "Guide to Artifacts, Antiques & Artworks." It lists 19 gems and a map showing their locations.

While reading through the other thread it contained a link to a PDF file which had it. I actually just printed it out.
    Pretty interesting.
My list of items continues to grow.
We may go down earlier than expected then hit the Mob museum up and finish downtown afterward for some extra time.

    Keep the replies coming.

For a picture, I would definitely do the picture at Binions - nice free souvenir. If you haven't done it, looking at the giant gold nugget in Golden Nugget is a quick interesting stop right in the casino. We went to Pizza Rock for happy hour in December 2015 and it was very good, defintely the meat balls. Banger Brewery has decent selection of beers brewed on site - they also have a happy hour. Also, have always had a good experience at Triple George, and they also have a happy hour. As for playing, I like playing at Golden Gate for low limit blackjack.

Heading out this week myself and for Craps I love both Golden Gate and the D 10x odds.

I suggest don't eat first if you decide to do that....:poke:

One photo op would be the million dollar display at Binions. You might see other photo ops under the canopy that might interest you since the city sort of controlled the many buskers that seek tips for their acts or costumes. Many are tasteless and not worth it but there are some that are attractive, sexy, and done in good taste. Las Vegas showgirls or the vivacious dominatrix would be a fun and "naughty" photo op if you are so inclined. Just beware of the panhandlers that are sure to still be around.

As far as food, it looks like you'll be looking for a lunch meal. Downtown has lots of casual eateries, the more popular ones already mentioned (Triple 7 at MSS, Pizza Rock, etc.) One of the places I want to try is the BBQ place at Binions. Lots of good reviews so let us know how it is if you decide to try it! Theres also many fast food and chain eateries like Claimsjumper at the GN, McD's by the D, and Tony Roma's inside Fremont Hotel. If you're into buffets, MSS is a popular choice. Fremonts buffet is also very popular.

As far as gaming, there are low minimum 5 dollar craps everywhere! I'm sure all the casinos have fun tables (just me but the GN is kinda snooty) and the Fremont has 3 dollar craps but there's only one table that is constantly swamped. If you go early before 8 am there is room at the 3 dollar table and the Vegas locals hang out to play. These regulars are fun to play with. MSS is famous for the 20X odds and always fun to play at. The Cal has all the old fart Hawaiians playing there with lousy 2X odds but a fun, harmless group and for the most part the dealers there are great. I don't play too much slots but I do know that there are not too much variety of slots at the Cal and MSS. Fremont might have a better selection for slots. VP for the most part has good paytables at the Boyd properties is you like VP.

I hope you enjoy Downtown. It will never beat the Strip but it's a nice diversion for a day or two while in Vegas. Have fun!

Just outside the canopy is Fremont St east. Next to the base of the zip line is the Heart attack cafe where your given hospital gowns when seated by sexy nurses who will spank you with a paddle if you do not finish your meal. They feature fries cooked in lard and sell non filtered cigs and if you weigh over 350 lbs you eat for free! If you go down further you will find the El Cortez casino (build in 1942) with it's piano playing in the main lobby and a lounge with an actual lounge act. Across the street is the Container park with it's fire breathing praying mantis. in just a few minutes.Unlike the strip you can actually walk to all these things
