That's sad (though he wasn't young) I remember seeing him at Deer Valley in the late 80s.....

(and OMG the Sunday buffet at the SE Lodge - yum!)

Hey, like when Jimmy Buffett finally goes ... it's not really sad, not when you go out with your hair on fire and doing your thing!

Stein Eriksen was often seen in his namesake lodge in Park City. I remember meeting him mid-70's. You could always count on having a good time and a great meal there - top quality.

Way back in the day my skiing obsession made my current golf obsession but a harmless flirtation ...

I skied quite a bit between 1985-95 (and skiing was about the only thing that made grad school in SLC bearable ;-) but haven't done much since then. I wouldn't say I was obsessed though.... Skiing in Utah has a way of spoiling you - there's no way I'd pay money to ski in NC now, and since I don't have family living in UT any more.....Every 70+ winter day we have, though, we start fantasizing about a winter ski/snow trip again. We'll do it eventually (I think 2009 was the last time? Yikes....)

I need to take it up again. If only to give me more stuff about which to write.

Yep, every time you start a new hobby, you can tell your wife "but it's job security". My husband has no such excuse :ssst:
