    My Trip Report

so tomorrow is nearly here. Departing on a rather circuitous route to Las Vegas which will take nearly 2 days!.

First part of the trip is London Heathrow to Dublin. 5 hours in Dublin airport. Then Dublin back to Heathrow. Drive the luggage and my mother round to a hotel near Gatwick airport. Then drive my car back home and get the train back to the Gatwick hotel. (Can't leave the car at the airport as we are flying out of Gatwick but back into Heathrow). Then Thursday is the 10 hour flight to Las Vegas.

So why the trip to Dublin? It meant we could fly BA in business class for £800 r/t - pretty much the same as coach this time of year. Same plane across the pond, just cheaper to start the trip in Ireland and worth it for the extra comfort and flat beds. In theory we should be ending the trip in Dublin also, but we'll 'accidentally' forget to take the last flight :)

Trip is me and my 79 year old mother. We have pretty much spent Christmas in Vegas every 2nd year for the past 10 years. This will almost certainly be the last though as my mother finds the travel and particularly the time difference tough these days. In the past I have taken my girlfriend as well - but she gave me a 'her or Vegas' ultimatum this year. So Vegas it is!!

3 nights at Wynn and 2 nights at Cosmo. In both places my rooms are comped and my mother's are at Casino rate. In the past her rooms have often been comped at the end of the stay based on my play, but I very much doubt this will happen this year.

Bankroll is a severely reduced $3000. Plus $1000 FP from Wynn and $785 from Cosmo. In the past I have taken $10-15k. Usually play HL slots - I guess this year I will be avoiding the HL room. I'm going to start with a $3-5 max on video slots and max $10 on reels (Don't play much VP). If things don't start well, I'll be lowering that pretty quickly!! I play online sometimes with very low bets, so low rolling is not totally foreign!!

I'll try and do a semi live TR with how things are going.

Plans so far are Christmas day lunch at Wynn Country Club, and Showstoppers Christmas day evening at Encore. SW Steakhouse booked for Boxing day evening. Outlet shopping day before we leave (yuk). Normally we do a day trip - Red Rock Canyon or Death Valley, but as we only have 5 nights instead of 6 or 7 this year, we'll skip that.

Safe travels! We are flying in tomorrow morning. Sorry to say our flight is only hour and 15 minutes. We have done Vegas for Christmas a few times and love it. Cheers and good luck!

Have a great trip and that's a really good price for Business Class. Not sure I could do that round trip though, London straight to Vegas is as much as I can cope with. Although another £1200 to spend in Vegas may be worth it. Cheapest I've ever found in Business Class is £2k return so make sure you enjoy that flight and pick up loads of drinks and snacks in the airport lounge and on the plane. Enjoy your trip. Night Nurse capsules work great for alleviating jetlag.

They serve complimentary adult beverages on International flights on BA still or have they taken the route of every other carrier and nixed that wonderful perk?

    Have a great time!

Yes, as much as you like and champagne before take off in Business Class. As long as you're not obviously drunk you can have what you want. Virgin is the same. They have a galley in all sections with drinks and snacks.
