    Hey guys,

I collect $1 Casino chips and want to add at least 1 (if not more) to my collection on my next trip to Vegas.
I have all the Strip and Freemont casinos, as well as Rio, Gold Coast, Palms, Hard Rock, Hooters, Silverton, Orleans, WestGate, and Sam's Town.

Knowing that I was looking at some maps and thought I might try knocking out Ellis Island, Tuscany and Silver Sevens.
If possible I like to walk because a) I feel like I get a little exercise on my trip and b) if the casino sucks I am less likely to feel like I need to stay since I did not have to pay to get there

My question is, how safe is it to walk from the strip to these casinos? (Is it not safe at all? safe during the day, safe at all times, or taxies wont even take you there type of places)
Is there any other Off strip casinos I have not mentioned that are in walkable distance and safe?

Taxis will take you to any of those three. I have walked to and beyond the area with all of them (pretty short walk from Ballys) and felt perfectly fine during the day. I have walked that area at night as well and I felt ok because there were obviously other tourists walking around as well. But I probably would not have felt comfortable making that walk at night by myself

    Guy,
I am also a casino chip collector and am amazed with how few people know about the hobby. I'm not sure if you are a serious collector or just happen to pick up new chips while in Las Vegas but here are a few sites you should check out if you haven't already.

www.thechipboard.com - is a great resource for chip information, values, and purchasing. Many knowledgeable collectors frequent this site and love helping other collectors.
www.ccgtcc.com - The official site for The casino chip and gaming token collectors club - Some good information here as well as access to register for the club

    Guy,
Have you taken the bus to Fremont Street? You could get many chips there.

Just to add.... Thanksgiving week I made a trip to Ellis Island just to see what all the talk on here about it was.
Walked out of Bally's side door to get there, It was about 2am and the "only" reason I was not too worried was that I was sober!!!!
There was no other non homeless, panhandling, etc. type people out while on my walk. Glad I chose to go after the wife went to sleep.:confused2:

How do you display the chips?

If you exit Bally's by the sports book, then the walk to Ellis Island is very short.

I have them in a binder that I can flip thru.
Not sure if you remember "Pogs" it was a silly kids game but they made binder pages (just like they make binder pages to hold sports cards) to display the chips and they fit casino chips perfectly.

I have walked to all of those, no problems unless you are scared of homeless people.

You could also take the free Sam's Town shuttle from Harrahs and hit Sam's Town, Eastside Cannery, Arizona Charlie's Boulder and Longhorn all in one shot.

Did you ever consider putting them in a frame and displaying them on a wall? That would be a very colorful display, methinks! Or, using a challenge coin holder and sitting them on a shelf?

Las Vegas bus #202 (Flamingo Road) going east from the strip will take you to all 3 properties for $2/ride. You can catch the 202 on the north side of Ballys going east. There is a bus stop in front of Tuscany that you can get off the bus and walk to Tuscany and Ellis Island. Once finished with both casinos, go back to the same bus stop to go east to silver sevens (at Paradise Rd). Bus stops right next to Silver Sevens. 202 buses come every 15 - 20 minutes.

I have Stayed at Tuscany a couple of times and walked between there and the Strip at all times of day and night and never had any problems. You might see the odd homeless person but they never bother you.

To the OP: one that you didn't mention but is also walkable(daylight only) which would be a fun catch for your collection is the Wild Wild West casino at the days inn. It's across I-15 also, so some new scenery.

I also collect chips and use the binder with flips as mentioned. It is a fun hobby! I only collect from casinos I've visited... But set out to visit new casinos whenever possible.

    Have fun!

Nice! I will add that to the list.
I only collect chips from casinos I have actually played at. Currently I am up to 98.

There's also the Westin, which is on East Flamingo and just a block or so behind the Cromwell. It's a pretty small casino, hopefully still exists. I didn't see that on your list.

Just beware that location has changed a good deal; last I checked table games had limited hours in the evening only. Cage was generous to let me buy chips off hours once though(slots open). Keep that in mind.
