I took early retirement back in 2008 and have been buying our health insurance on the open market. I had the option of buying insurance through my company but there was no cap on out of pocket and everything had 20% co-insurance and I just worried about a long term hospital stay. Knock on keyboard, that never occurred.

Last year the company I worked for was acquired by Scripts. This year, Scripts sold off half the company, but kept the division I worked for. So I am now considered a Scripts early retiree and eligible for their insurance plan through United Health Care. My old company was self-insured and just hired a third party to administer the paperwork.

The new Scripts plan has lower deductibles, lower max out of pocket and the best news is it is $604 cheaper than anything I can find on the open market. Don’t get me wrong $872 per month, for two people is just ridiculous, but it sure beats $1,476 per month that I have been paying.

To tie it into Vegas, it feels like a guaranteed, two quads and two full houses, every month on dollar, DDB. :evillaugh

That's GREAT news Joe! The new company I just started with offers United Heath Care coverage as well and it became effective for me on 12/1. I thought I had super coverage before, but this new plan is fantastic! As an early public retiree, I'm keeping my old coverage as secondary insurance!

Wow, I will never complain about the $50 a month I pay for me and my three kids again. I also took an early retirement (medical) and my insurance through the old place is ridiculous. It is the primary reason I went back to work until my kids have flown the coop.
