I'll be visiting with my wife the second week of December. And by looking at the temps.....54-57 seems to be the trending high and the low seems to be trending at 34-37. Wondering what to wear? I'd assume that most of the time we'd be just walking from the casino to the car, then driving to whatever indoor mall, etc. Not sure we'd actually be out in the open much other than maybe watching the fountains at the Bellagio and maybe walking across the pedestrian bridges. Being from Hawaii, we only have two temperatures..........hot and cold! :evillaugh So anything that is below 74 is considered actually really cold for us.

What do you folks wear when you're out and about? Do you layer, etc.?

So mid 50's that's shorts and t-shirt weather, with a light jacket at night. But I'm not from Hawaii, lol so maybe a parka and long Johns? If you know what long Johns are.

I'm in the same boat 808. I'm flying there from Oahu this Thursday night and temps look chilly. Usually for my December trips I wear jeans with closed toed shoes, an undershirt with T-shirt/polo shirt and a fleece during the day. In the evening a suit is usually warm enough even for one or two Bellagio songs outside. The women have it worse. I just tell my wife to suck it up walking around in a dress at night or just have her drink more and she won't notice.

My wife and I go to Las Vegas twice each December. We'll be there the second week and the last week this year.

It's often the wind that matters in Las Vegas. 50's during the day is fine - until you're out on a windy day. Layering with long-sleeved shirts and sweaters is good, but have something windproof if it's breezy.

Ah so you are like us.
We have been in Feb or March the past few years.
Definitely a hat but I will go with a shirt, sweat shirt and jacket, but not a heavy jacket during the day.
It does get very cold out and it depends on if you are walking the strip or bouncing from casino to casino.
During the summer its so hot outside yet cold inside, but in the winter its the opposite.
Cold outside but they keep the casino very hot.

Layering is the way to go. I always have an extra jacket because its always cold when I return to Boston in mid December.

If you are from Hawaii, I would suggest you bring your most warm clothes with you in case you go out at night/early morning. It can be very chilly if the wind is strong.

Always wear clean underwear in case you get hit by a car.

I always wear something sleeveless and have a jacket with me in December; I find it really hot inside the casinos at this time of year. I always bring an actual winter coat too just in case but haven't needed it in 5 years or so.

As you mentioned, it all depends on where you are going and what you are going to do. I will be there at the beginning of January attending the electronics show so I don't want to carry or wear a lot of warm clothes (since it will be too warm at the convention and I don't want to carry a lot of stuff while walking around the convention hall). I usually just wear a jacket and polo shirt (and slacks and dress shoes). Since I hardly stay outside for very long I just go with that outfit when I go between casinos and malls and other places.

In fact if it wasn't for the convention I would probably just wear shorts and slippers (and my jacket) if I'm downtown and long pants and maybe sneakers if I go to the malls (nah, I would still just wear slippers). I don't mind the cold weather so I don't mind the freeze for a little while. I have visited when the temp on the big binions clock read 21F and there was snow falling and on the ground but I didn't mind.

I think it really depends on how much you can handle the cold, wear a lot of warm clothes and layer them if you can't stand the cold or wear/bring less clothes if you can handle the cold.

Casinos always overcompensate based on outside temp, so a jacket is better than a sweater. Sunny and sixty is short sleeve weather for me, but throw in some wind and overcast it's light jacket. Winds over 20 mph I'm wishing for a hat. If you are downtown your maximum outside exposure is about five minutes, so suck it up and enjoy the sobering effect.

We were actually tossing around the idea of swimming when we go. Lol. Weather will be high 50's when we are there so that's not going to happen. Being from Chicago, we will not be wearing coats or sweaters and enjoy the warmth.

I am planning on throwing myself in the pool at the Aria at least once.

Last year at this time I had shorts and a long sleeve on during the day (the Big Bang Sheldon look) and jeans and a button down on a night. My wife would be cold if she was sitting the surface of the sun so she was decked out in pants and sweaters through the entire trip.

I just plan for what we are doing if outside at Fremont all night I dress a little warmer. If we are going to shows and dinner a lot lighter.
