    Hey everyone,

I just discovered this forum and it looks like a great place to share information about Vegas. I personally have not visited Vegas in almost a decade. Before that, I have been 6 times and we always stayed at the Excalibur when we visited.

This time around we are doing something a little different. A friend of mine wanted to go see the UFC fight at the MGM and has never been. So we got a group together and we got a basic room at the New York New York.

So, I haven't been in a long time and it seems like a lot has changed based on what I am reading. I had never heard of the $20 trick, but I figure it's worth a try? Also, 3:2 blackjack tables for $10 minimum sound like their non existent in this area of the strip? Does anyone else have any advice for my group of friends? Thanks ahead, I'll be sure to report back with my experience.

I stayed there last month. $20 trick worked for us, we got a top floor strip-view room upgraded from Park Avenue Room to a Madison Avenue Room (we mentioned that we were Vegas first timers, so that white lie may help you since you haven't been there for so long).

They had $5 blackjack all day every day, but it paid 6:5 and you couldn't get rated on the Mlife card for it. You could get rated on the $10 tables, but again they paid 6:5. There were always $25 tables with seats available and they paid 3:2 all the time, including weekends.

In terms of eating and drinking there were plenty and good food choices and happy hours in the hotel. We really enjoyed the Chinese (Chin Chin) and the Italian (can't remember the name) for food and the Big Chill and Gonzalez y Gonzalez for drinks. The Italian pizza place was open till 3am every day and was great for a late night snack (a slice and a beer for $7.77).

Watch out for hookers at the Centre Bar, lol.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Stayed at NYNY Halloween weekend and had a great time. There are a couple of 10 and15 dollar 3:2 tables, you have to look around. Kind of funny story, I had taken the night flight from Boston and arrived at NYNY a little before midnight. Was assigned a room on the 37th floor. Got up to the room opened the door and there was a woman sleeping in the bed! Almost had a heart attack! Ran out of the room and back to the fron desk!

Very cool, I remember back in the day the buffet's were awesome, are there still good buffet's around? I don't think NYNY has one right?

Also, can someone explain to me comps? Is that what mlife card is? We gamble a good bit so I definitely want to take advantage of any possible comps for that.

    Thanks

They didn't give an explanation. A manager came out and started playing on the computer without saying much. He put me in a suite for the 4 nights. Three night were comped and one at 57 dollars plus resort fees. Took off the 57 and all resort fees. Probably could have got a meal or something but at that point I just wanted to start vacation.

I have taken many trips to Vegas right before Christmas and have mostly stayed ay NYNY during those trips. I love the atmosphere there this time of year - they pipe in the classic Christmas music and it's not crowded at all the week or two before the 25th. Since it's a slow time (even the weekends slow down) you may find the $10 3:2 table, you probably wouldn't have much trouble finding one next door at Excalibur. I'll be at NYNY in less than 2 weeks - can't wait!
