    Weak.

Any idea what it takes to get a ticket in terms of time, coin in, whatever?

Oh wow. :( I've fought to get a seat there more than anywhere else. But if they are going to do this, how about asking whoever sits at the bar to actually play. Oh wait, that would actually cost them money...

I guess I'll likely have to go to Venetian for a Sculpin fix now, unless the amount is more nominal than I expect. I hate the thought of giving Sheldon more business!!! :grrr:

Same question, how does this work? And do the bartenders have discretion?

We were at Chandelier bar last night. Free drinks but they were a little weird about it. Tried to charge my wife because she was checking her points and free play without money in the machine.

Hopefully the Bond test fails, so it doesn't spread. Cosmo is pretty tough on making sure you're playing at the bar initially. They are probably trying to cut down on "hit and runners", but if I could order the same thing from the CWs and they didn't take a half-hour a cycle, I would! I like the floor VP better, but I have had terrible luck with CWs there.

Which I kind of get, they were always kind of loose with the drinks. I guess, selfishly, I just don't want to be stuck in a situation where I'm betting dollars at max bet, playing a significant number of hands per hour, but still can't get a decent cocktail or two. Sigh.

Do the tickets print out for drinks? If so, could you save them up for later? At any rate, Im not a fan of this idea, but I can understand the casinos point of view on it. I wonder if they could just put a point counter on the back of the players card slot that would show that people are actually playing instead of hit and run.

This has to be a nightmare... that was easily my favorite bar in Vegas. Can anyone take pictures if there?

I would love to know how much play constitutes a drink ticket.

I know the purpose for it - but it ruins the fun and casualness of the bar. This isn't Boars Head or Sullys or Gustav's where people are using their fingers of fury to play serious VP. I have had multiple drunk people elbow max bet on my machine when it is on video blackjack - and that max bet doesn't really have a low limit if you know what I mean. I would understand this at Chandalier where people are more relaxed, the bartenders there definitely stingier about free drinks etc..

Just sad... easy choice to not split up my trip there in a few weeks if a computer will decide when its time for a free drink

First Mirage, now Cosmo, I think the chance of this thing spreading is very high

My wife was just saying how much she liked this place last time and we should play here more. Up until I read this I couldn't have agreed more, now it's not going to happen.

Thanks bighead, let us know. Really interesting on the amount expected for a drink ticket to spit out. Also interested if it is at all bars.

This will definitely impact my choice in staying in the future

bond bar is connected to the party pit so it makes sense as they have a dj at nite there its more of a club thing they way they have it now.its become a pick up joint especialy with the marque spill over, i rember when mirage stopped comping drinks at the v/p bar by jet when the nite club was oppen becuase it was all hookers and people just trying to scam free drinks .

Anything the casino does to get me less drunk is going to cost them money and save me money. I can't really say it doesn't upset me, but I might be happier later.

It's just another sign that the corporate bean counter types who are making decisions in these casinos do not understand the subtle tricks to properly sheering the sheep.

More and more it's becoming about producing predictable earnings at a maximum short-term rate. The long term cost is they are opening themselves up to more and more non-Vegas competition as they de-emphasize gambling, which for the longest time is what made Vegas unique.

The overall comp situation is still motivational. We are doing our upcoming trip because frankly we wouldn't be able to get a similar experience for anywhere near as cheaply anywhere else, but without a doubt a few of my Vegas trips each year have been replaced with alternate destinations as comps dwindle and other options become more competitively viable.

Without a doubt these dbags are killing the golden goose.

That actually may kind of be the point; I almost feel like they're regretting putting VP machines in there, because I have a feeling that whatever they're making off the machines in the evening, it's not enough to justify the lost revenue on the expensive cocktails that those drunk club-going people want to actually pay for. It's idiotic during the day when the place is empty, though.

Also, I'll hate it less if this really is just confined to places like Bond, the Mirage lobby bar, etc., which are mostly spillover bars for pre/post nightclub partying. As much as I like Bond, as I mentioned, I get why they want to limit the free drinks there.

Played quarters for about 45 minutes quickly and nothing spit out. Suit who explained the brilliant system to us said the ticket will spit out when you deserve a drink, but it may get jammed so be patient. Seriously? "You mean like the Mirage is testing and pissing people off with?" "I've never heard of that" BS. Someone claiming it's their idea to justify existence. Chewed them out until the wife got mad at me. Made clear we vote with our money. They were handing out packets explaining policy to bartenders at other bars, so it seems like this may spread. Only at Bond for now.

Really stupid thing is the first drink is free. So this is only to punish real gamblers. Not the club kids or whoever is scamming a drink by looking like their playing.

Wow quarters for 45 mins and no drink ticket?? So even if you play 10-15 hands a minute which might even be slow for some.. In 45 mins you coining in between $575-$700.

Yeah no thank you. Too many bad runs where you could easily be down $100 or more and no drink. Sounds like the suit was being snooty about it. Bartenders are probably not a fan. I always tipped them like crazy when comped
