I'm done with downtown Cleveland Horseshoe Casino. This isn't sour grapes from losing. I have had wins along with the losses. I'm just tired of the "Department Store" casino. Build the new facility we were promised already. I have been to all the other casinos in our wonderful state of Ohio. Toledo, Columbus, and Cincinnati. These are all new facilities. Cleveland wanted to be the first to open up a casino when legislation passed to legalize casino gambling in Ohio. So we use an old Higbee building for a casino temporarily until we build a new facility. I'm still waiting. :grrr:

Hate to say it, but I highly doubt any new facility ever gets built. The marginal increase in revenue from a "new casino" definitely doesn't justify the massive sunk costs.

Horseshoe Cincinnati was definitely nice when I visited. The only thing that annoyed me was the craft beer I wanted was in the "smoking area" and also had to pay for it...same for St. Louis.

Have you ever had the chocolate cake at their buffet? It was truly the best I ever had.

I actually like the feel of the Cleveland casino. The location of the Columbus casino is horrible. Haven't been to Cinci or Toledo.

I have some contacts with Forest City, and suffice to say you are not the only frustrated person. Understandably so.

I like the building and am glad someone found a use for it. Good old Higbee's, mounted cops outside, neat old Rapid station next door, quick jump over the bridge to the West Side Market, Rising Star and GLBC... Too bad there aren't any decent games of chance to be had.

It beats our Columbus casino which I won't ever step foot in at night because of all the trash and criminals. Gang member tried to steal GF's purse that was last straw. Cincinnati is my favorite Ohio casino for sure.

I have to disagree. The interior is clean and classy looking.

The proposed future site by the river might be more aesthetically pleasing but it will not be as convenient as the present one. I also don't see it being a very efficient use of riverfront property. The current site may not be a traditional space for a U.S. casino, but the use of multiple floors causes the footprint to be more compact. Once you know where you want to be in the building, it is very easy to navigate with escalators and elevators. Should they need additional space, they can open other (currently closed) floors. Petulantly demanding a new location because "it was promised" doesn't make sense.

The only thing the building lacks at present is an extremely large space to hold WSOP-type poker tournaments.

I think if you guys had the cake, you'd change your mind about the place.

I have eaten both lunch and dinner buffets. The desserts are good. If they ever send me another 2 for 1 I'll concentrate on the cake. My most memorable chocolate cake was at Mr. Lucky's in the Hard Rock.

I really liked the location of Horseshoe Cleveland as it was a very convenient walk from many of the hotels, had lots of food choices around and it was easy to catch free transportation down the the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. No complaints here.

captain ron spot on about Columbus casino....location on west side sucks big time, so much trash in the area and they all seem to show up at night. cracked me up when legislation was being pushed to move it from arena district to west side. they said it would revitalize west side, instead it is a gathering area for the trash of the city.

if I want a true "gambling day" at a casino I drive to Cincinnati too.

The buffet has a triple chocolate cake that is to die for! Not even a big chocolate fan but that cake is awesome, actually melts in your mouth! I frequent the Cleveland Horseshoe and when I go to the buffet, my first stop is to always check the desserts to see if the chocolate cake is there :licklips:
