Going for a 1.5day trip. Love Craps, BJ, Baccarat, Roulette, VP.

    Probably will play at ARIA.

    $5k bankroll for 1.5 days?

Best way to make it last is to bet LOW on highest payback games. Like 100% pay VP at the quarter level.

Then again, you are there to GAMBLE. Guessing playing $0.25 per spin is not what you want to hear.

Play what you want. Let the chips fall where they may.

I keep $4500 in the bank and only spend the other $500.

Lasts a very long time that way.

Hmmm... a little math then... I'll assume that you'll spend 8 hours sleeping, 1 hour of morning prep, 2 hours eating, 2 hours of milling around, and an hour 'commuting' from/to the airport. I'll also assume that your 1.5 day is a literal 36 hours.
So - we'll round down to 20 hours of actual gaming time.
    1000/20 = $50 per hour of gaming.
Assuming a session is an hour, and you play against no more than a 1% HA, you should be 'ok' with buying in for $300 each session & a $25 base-bet... for easy math, we'll say 60 bet-events' per hour, or 1 per minute. So, every 4 minutes @ an average expected loss of 1%, you'll give up $1 per 4 minutes, or $15 an hour... again - on average.
    $15 x 20 hours = $300 loss.
I would stick with blackjack, but if you play craps, you will obviously have more than 60 bet-events per hour...With say 5 bets placed per roll, you'll probably have more like 200 bet events per hour. You should still be ok with a $25 base bet though, since even at 1% HA, you're only looking at $50 an hour in losses, or $1000 for the whole trip.
If you're objective is to protect your bankroll, then go with a $10 base-bet for craps.
At $25, you should be able to find a decent-rules two-deck blackjack table... I would suggest spending at least 75% of your time there...let craps be your reward game for when you win at blackjack.... take a 10 minute break after every one-hour session.
    Have fun & good luck!

EDIT: Oops!!! $5000?!?? Ummm..nevermind then...play whatever you want with a base bet of $100...you'll be fine!

so assuming 3 sessions per 24 hrs?
take no more than $800 per session out of room safe ($500 optimally )
force yourself to walk back to room just in case of "red mist"/"on tilt"
    *shrug* that's what I do

You're allowed to adjust on the fly. :poke: Don't bet it all on the first hand and you should be able to figure it out from there.

According to Lawrence Revere (wrote 'Playing Blackjack as a Business'), your base-bet should never be higher than 5% of your session bankroll. Your session limit would never be higher than 20% of your total bankroll. (At least, that's my admittedly aging memory of what his book says).
So - at least with regard to blackjack, your table buy-ins per session should never be more than $1000 and your base-bet should be no higher than $50. (This assumes you're playing perfect or nearly-perfect basic strategy and that you're employing a simple plus/minus count, varying your base bet accordingly).

I use this as a basic guidleine for my blackjack play - session buy-in limit is $200, and my base-bet is $10. I could go higher (as my trip bankroll is about $2000) but I like having that extra cash buffer in case I go on a particularly bad run.

    Personally,

I take half of the bankroll and play aggressive for the first night and try and get up 2-3xs my original bankroll at roulette or BJ. If I am successful, the other half goes in the safe and I will take it home and buy DW somethig nice, like a car.

It's not in my nature to play with scared money, I always play aggressive or I shouldnt be playing.

In the interest of getting this back on topic (I would love to reply to the one who said to give it to charity!), I think you have good advice in here. The best advice is to win, obviously! But in the event that you aren't lucky right out of the gate, do the math on how many hours you plan on spending in the casino actually gambling. Then do the basic division. Limit yourself to that: 17 hours, that is about 300/hour roughly. In first hour, you get rolled for the full 300, walk until the next hour starts.

Not my style, but I know people who do this as well. Best of luck!

    What's your "best possible outcome"?
Go home even? Go home up 2x? 3x?
Or just have a blast with $5k and hope for the best? Will losing it all be a major deal in your life?

Play blackjack. Press heavy when you are winning. Don't chase when you are losing.
I'm a low level player and not very disciplined.
    My last 2 trips, I turned $200 into $2,000 and $300 into $1,800.
    My basic rules:
If the table sucks, walk away.
    When you're hot, bet big
If your are getting hammered for a few hands, sit one out or play 2 hands.
    Drink a lot.

Play PaiGow for $25 dollars a hand and a $5 bonus. PiaGow is the slowest game, (about 20 hands per hour), and you push 1/3 of the time. You can play for days and enjoy free beverages. You wont get much for comps in this game though.

I play this all the time when I need to slow the pace and conserve my bank roll.

PS-leave roulette and craps out of your game plan. They are the fastest and funnest, but also can deplete the Bank the quickest.
