Steak & Eggs special - Arizona Charlie's Vs. Ellis Island

Ellis Island gets a big thumbs up for their Steak & Eggs breakfast. Their steak was much better. The steak at Arizona Charlie's was about 1/4 inch thick with a lot of fat & grissle. Ellis Island's was at least 1/2 inch thick and everything trimmed off. I was able to eat the entire thing.

Both places allowed my friend to substitute biscuits and gravy for the bread. He also gave the thumbs up to Ellis Island for better gravy. I don't recall what he ordered, but it was something on the graveyard specials menu...He had the chicken fried steak special (with biscuit & gravy) and gave that the thumbs up at Ellis Island.

Since I enjoyed the breakfast, I'll have to go back to Ellis Island for the steak special some trip now.

 

Only been to the Ellis Island Restaurant a couple of times but it's always been good. I can't ever remember eating at Arizona Charlies (either one) over the decades. No particular reason, just never have.

 

I had both in one trip about five years ago and there was no doubt that Ellis Island excelled. Arizona Charlies was definitely a breakfast steak, thin and gray. Ellis Island looked like a dinner steak and their home fries were pretty good as well.

My two brothers and I pooled our money on a two hundred dollar loss rebate promo at Arizona Charlies after breakfast and split a two thousand dollar aces with a kicker hit, so the inferior steak didn't ruin the day.

 

Flamingo, a number of years ago, had several ads with picture in the casino for their steak & eggs graveyard special, saying that the steak was a ribeye (might have said "ribeye and eggs"). Picture showed this thick delicious steak. The actual one was about a 1/4 inch thick steak like Arizona Charlie's....
