Staying at The Cal this weekend and wondering if the work they were doing is complete? Any pictures of the gambling floor with the updates?

Wasn't complete on the casino floor when we were there last week. They are doing it in sections, and had a portion of the lower table game area (where the craps tables are) tarped off.

We r staying at Main Street now. Work is still in progress at the Cal.
Computers were down when we checked in. Didn't get our room keys until the 2nd day. Our friends still can't get a slot card. We can't get our free play. All ticket casing machines r down. So u have to redeem tickets at the cashier. Lines r long.

What did you do the first day without a room key?

Security had to take u to the room every time.
    Not good.
We usually stay at the D. Wife doesn't want to go back to Main Street now.

That almost sounds comical (thinking about tons of security folks taking people to their rooms). Was this happening with a lot of people?

Everyone that checked in on Tuesday the 10th had to b escorted and let into their room.
They couldn't make room keys from 9am Tuesday until like midday Wednesday.
We were fortunate. I talked to a guy in line, and his room key quit working. He had to stand in a long line to get it coded again.
They only had 1 clerk working the hotel desk.

How did the Cal make it up to their guests for this unacceptable situation? Stunning.

The typical offer of 2 free nights valued at $60 and $10 in free food :)

In all seriousness, Boyd's online reservation system has been beyond jacked up the last few weeks. I get the feeling it has to do with some sort of internal system overhaul they must be doing on the hotel end.

There was no offer to make up for the situation. I thought they might offer a free buffet, but no.
We had a comped room, so I don't know if others received a discount.
I learned yesterday that it was a computer update gone bad. Supposedly the system was to b done in 2 hrs, and turned into 25 to 30 hrs.
Everything was chaos, and left a very bad impression. Talk about a failure for trying a new place. Ugh.
On a side note our 2 nights at the D have been great. Rooms r very nice. We have a new updated bathroom on this trip.
We also stayed 3 nights at Paris. Reserved a red room king Eiffel Tower view. Received a 2 queen roof view. Shower there drained slow, so u stood in an inch of water.
We changed rooms after the first night. We got a king contemporary tower view. Sink didn't drain. Lol maintenance fixed it and all was well.

Have they updated the bathrooms at the D compared to the pictures you see online? Can you describe them?

They r in the process of putting in new bathrooms. They took out the tubs and put in a white floor shower pan with a stationery glass half door. It has a large awesome shower head.
    New white modern sink.
    Very nice.
