    My Trip Report

I'm sitting here at work counting down the hours until I leave. This is my third trip to Vegas this year, 10th in the last 4 years. A buddy asked me to plan an "Old School Vegas Trip" after I returned from Vegas in June with my wife. His requirements were to stay downtown in a cheap room, with cheap beer, and cheap gambling, so the planning began. Here is my summary:

Bank Roll: $500 per day. Most of my bankroll for this trip was funded by FanDuel. I had a nice run this summer with Baseball, and so far, Hockey, Basketball, and Football have provided a positive EV. I'm going to ride this DFS waive until they declare it "gambling" and not just a game of skill (sorry New York).

Flight: Spirit Airlines. Driving from Columbus up to Cleveland to Fly out on Spirit for less than $200 round trip, and that includes the Big Front Seat. Non-stop flight leaves at 8:52pm and arrives in Vegas at 10:25pm local time. I've used Spirit several times before, and I'm a member of the $9 fare club, but I'll never fly them unless I get the Big Front Seat. Walmart First Class Baby!

Hotel: I booked Four Queens tonight for $12.51 through Orbitz. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday staying at Main Street Station; $72/night Friday and Saturday, with Thursday night free with the American Casino Guide coupon. My buddy gets in Thursday night and leaves Sunday, so I'm heading to the strip after he leaves. Sunday and Monday night at Excalibur (MyVegas comped room on Sunday and $20 through Mlife with $25 in Free Play Monday night).

MyVegas: Excalibur comped room Sunday 11/15 (15k LPS), $50 Free Play at Excalibur (150k LPs), one ticket to Fantasy Sunday night (33k LPs), and one breakfast buffet pass at Aria (19,500 LPs). I still have around 200k LPs to use for my next trip. :peace:

Gambling: LOTS of Video Poker. I am in search of my first ever Royal. I will be taking advantage of the Plaza's $500 On Us Promo. I'll be playing 9/6 Boner Deluxe (99.64%) for $1 until I have run through $500 or reach $2500 (hopefully $4k and hit my Royal). I will then move down to quarters the following two days when I redeem the free play ($250 per day on the 2nd and 3rd day) on either Boner Deluxe or lower my variance and move to 9/6 JOB (99.54%). I have free play at The D, Four Queens, Downtown Grand, and El Cortez that I will also be using. Football Saturday and Sunday will be spent watching and betting on games. Any suggestions where to watch on Saturday or Sunday?

Food: Nothing specific planned, but for sure; Pizza Rock and 777 Brew Pub, plus I have a Groupon for Nacho Daddy. Any other suggestions are definitely welcomed.

Drinks: YES! Many Drinks. Primarily craft beers, but also have a Groupon for Vanguard Lounge for some craft cocktails.

Pool: Only if PP shows up.

Other: UFC 193 Viewing Party on Saturday at El Cortez. $10 for Club Cortez members and that includes a free draft beer. Check out Container Park, have drinks at some of the other bars on Fremont Street East, again, any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I love, and respect live trip reports, but I cannot in good faith commit to one. I will do my very best to provide updates and pictures especially if I hit that Royal, but I will for sure provide a write up at the end of the trip.

Thank you everyone who has written live, and non-live reports, to get me through these last few months. I truly appreciate the time and effort you have put in.

Until my next update, wish me good luck and Godspeed.

Good luck! Make sure the good VP counts for the loss rebate, it's definitely not allowed for the redemption of free play.

Thanks Tring! I'll confirm what's included before running through my $500. You are sure that it is not allowed for the Free Play? If that's true, my plans may change.

I've used Uber before, but I know they don't pick up from McCarran. I signed up for Lyft and got a $20 promo for my first ride. Does anyone know what a Lyft ride costs from the Airport to Downtown?

Fairly sure, but only from what I've read here. Lower paying VP is allowed for freeplay. The promo is still good, imo.

No, I was in Shreveport last weekend. I'm going to New Orleans and Biloxi this weekend. I've spent too many weekends in Vegas, so doing the Louisiana and Mississippi tour.

Have fun on the Gulf Coast! We did a New Orleans and Biloxi tour in March. Stayed at Harrah's in New Orleans and Beau Rivage in Biloxi. We really enjoyed the Beau!

Oh and the beers at Main Street Station. They're pretty good beers but cheap. Never paid for one but on the comp receipt it says $2 or $2.50. I think sometimes they're even cheaper like $1.50 or $1.75

"I redeem the free play ($250 per day on the 2nd and 3rd day) on either Boner Deluxe..."

I don't think that's legal in Clark County [Beavis laugh] :evillaugh

Lyft from LAS to downtown should run you about $25

BTW, there is an app called "Zailoo" that will give you a fare estimate for Lyft, Uber, and Taxi options. Just enter your origin and destination addresses, and estimates will be calculated for you.

So I'm in line at the Spirit counter to check in and the family in front of me has two "overweight" bags that they want to check in plus 3 bags they want to carry on. I lost track of the amount that the clerk told them, but it was at least $200 they were about to pay in bag fees. I of course had pre-paid for my checked bag and was through check in in less than 5 minutes. I'm sure they'll be another negative review about what a ripoff Spirit is.
