    My Trip Report

Just a brief summary of our recent trip ............ mgm, mirage, my vegas, buffets etc

I have pics which I'll add to the thread ...... after the report.

Sunday - arrived, 3 nights comped at MGM with 100 resort credit. Not their best offer to us but it was limited because of the PBR event just ending when we got there and Halloween week coming. At least that was what was explained to us when we asked for some upgrades we have previously been offered. Gambled a bit and hit the sportsbook for some bets, then hit the dinner buffet as we had been in the air for most of the day. I have raved about this buffet in the past but came to find it REALLY depends on the time of day you visit it as to its quality. Between the my vegas rewards and the resort credit we ate 2 breakfasts here and 2 dinners here. Breakfast and dinner were great 1 time each and mediocre the other 2 times but the price was right. High lights - mac-n-cheese, cheese cake bites, Low light - no French toast on the breakfast buffet. BTW - we had a very nice strip view of NYNY to the left Monte Carlo center and City Center to the right.

MON - I slept in after getting up very early and going for a long walk. Time I got up we had lunch at Diablo's Cantina. If you have not ate here do it. Its very good everytime we have been (food and service). I recommend the fajitas. We wandered that end of the strip the rest of the day and night hitting sportsbooks and visiting the wife's favorite slot machines.

TUES - we got up early and ate breakfast at the MGM Buffet. This was the morning the breakfast buffet was fantastic the next morning not so much. It tasted old the next day. Anyway. I took off to the monorail and headed to SLS and walked to The STRAT . Nothing special - sketchy crowd inside and out. Ny destination was the Arts District and I was going to walk it as I wanted to photograph graffettic between the Strat and the Art District bungalows. Not a bad walk at all once I got away from the Strat I basically was all by myself with threats that I had been cautioned to watch out for. I made the arts district in about 30 minutes while stopping several times for photography. After wandering the arts district I took off on foot for the Lou Rouvo building as my phone showed it as an interesting attraction nearby. Took some pictures there and then realized just how far away I was from the SLS. I was also getting a bit sunburt and thristy - I could of walked it back but it would of wiped me for the day so I opted for my first uber ride. Bam - within minutes of loading my phone I was in an uber on the way back to SLS. Monorailed back to MGM and the we did out sportsbook/slots thing the rest of the day.

WEDS - moving day to Mirage - 2 nights per myvegas. Monorailed it to Harrahs then walked across the street to the Mirage. Our first stay here. Room was smallish but nice. Hotel is beautiful but busy. Tramed it over to Treasure Island ... nothing special IMO. Dinner buffet Cravings at Mirage on my vegas was absolutely fantastic. Hands down the best buffet and we have had all the mlife buffets. Highlights, Kung Pow Chicken and the cook to order shrimp scampi. Goose Island Beer and wine also included on buffet. The turkey on the carvery was also some of the best roasted turky I have ever had. Wife was in love with the desert section. After throughly making pigs of ourselves we walked to Harrahs and monorailed it to bally's to meet some freinds who were also in town. The area around Bally's is really well down. Took some pictures here as well. Our first time visiting this property so I am going to assume all this is recent upgrades as it all looked modern/redone. Room View at the Mirage was the pool

THURS - played in Mirage for the best part of moring and afternoon. Traded our dinner buffet for lunch and made pigs of ourselves once agian. Late afternoon we went to Jason's Deli over by UNLV and met Matt O'Brien who wrote beneath the neon and My Week at the Blue Angel. I'm a big fan and we have been facebook aquaintances for quite awehile now. I even went (by myself) down in 2 tunnels last trip (much to my wife's displeasure) and posted pics here. Matt spent about an hour visitng with us .......... he really is just very special person. If you are not familiar with him you should take time and read his books and learn about his efforts to help the homeless in Las Vegas. Back to the Mirage for some rest then it was off to Frankies Tiki Room for late drinks. If you have never been to Frankies I highly recommend you !!! Its a dive tiki bar off strip and it is absolutely a good time. http://www.frankiestikiroom.com/

FRI - Moving day once agian - this time to Mandalay Bay.........this was a last minute call on my part. Rob Zombie was playing the Hard Rock Casino and I scored meet and greet tickets and front row seats for the show about 2 weeks prior to going. Mandaly was decent. Dated big room. Very nice walk in bathroom and tub/shower. I could of stayed in the shower for a couple of hours. Room view the mountains. Off to Rob Zombie. Meet and greet took awhile to unfold but we got autographs and pictures plus bags of swag.. Witch Mountain and Danzig opened. Not really a fan of either. Now Zombie hit the stage and just blew everybody away. If he is not the best hard rock show out there right now I can't imagine who is. 2 encores. One with Danzig. The after show was a group call MacSabbath - A Black Sabbath cover band who come of dressed as Ronald McDonald, Hamburgler, Mayor McCheese and Grimace. They kick around one of the little fry characters while singing satire about McD's - ending each song with a "I'm Loving It" yell. It was fucking fantastic.

SAT morning was a total recovery day for me........ rested in the sportsbook betting a couple of morning football games then dragged my ass to the airport to fly home.

Not a very relaxing trip but we saw alot and did alot.

I'll post some picture here in a bit.

For the myvegas peeps - no issues at all with myvegas redeeming or getting. Wife even got a birthday spin at the luxor won 10 dollars free play and they gave here 50 on the DL.

Not going share the pics of the reg room views and casino entrance pics ......... here will be some stuff that is less common.

New phone so I am still figuring it out a bit.

This first set is Snowball the Cat Statue in the Arts District and the Lou Rouvo Building (Brain Center) I refer to it as the melting building.

    Nice report motorcat.
One question, is there a food menu at Frankies or drinks only?

No food - just very strong tiki drinks and beer.

There is a Wendys across the street if that helps
