Is it me, or are AC gamblers complete assholes compared to Vegas gamblers.

Granted, most people are on vacation in Vegas, and therefore are in a better mood.

I live 3.5 hours from AC, and go there ever couple months. The vibe at the craps tables are never fun, sooooo serious.

    Anyone else experience this?

I don't know if the AC gamblers are assholes as much as they're beaten down. I used to go to AC about every 6 weeks. I'm only about 2 !/2-3 hours away too (could be up to 5 on the Belt and SIE, lol) I haven't been to AC in about 8 months and have no plans to do so in the near future. I'd rather do 3 or 4 trips a year to Vegas. I get free flights due to airline points and never pay for a room, get generous slot play (over $500) tickets to headliner shows, pick up from airport in limo, etc. All I get in AC is a freaking free key chain, $10 slot play or a BOGO buffet.
The same amount of money that I'd spend in AC for a 1 night 2 day trip is what I spend in Vegas for 5 days! I take the same bankroll. I get treated so much better in Vegas. I was a die hard AC fan but over the past 2 years things have changed drastically. The gamblers aren't winning, the casino's are nickel and diming their patrons and there is no customer service to speak of.
Heck, I don't mind losing trip after trip but just throw me a bone and at least make me feel that I'm having a good time and appreciated while doing so!

    Hey fellas,

Having only been to AC once, the wife and I loved it...but I have to admit, there was a VERY noticeable more serious tone at all the craps tables! Everything else (machines/BJ/LIR etc) was very upbeat and a great time!

See, I agree with you about AC's customer service, and I would MUCH rather go to LV, but I feel like I get comped more things in AC. Case and point, everytime i go to Vegas and ask the pit boss for a comp, the NEVER hook me (except at SLS).

True story. I show up at a table (and some guy asks me to leave because I might throw off the "vibe" of the table).
    Few facts:

    * I just walked up to the table, didn't put any money on the table, didn't slow down to the game.
    * When he said this, he didn't crack a smile
    * I ignored him

Instead of pissing him off by staying, I took a look at his chip stack and left. Came back about 45 minutes ant he was down to like $75. Made my day!

I am going this weekend with my father, one comped night at Borgata, once comped night at Bally's. I am bringing friends, so this should help. Wish me luck.

No one could have been more pro AC than me. I used to get butterflies in my stomach about a week before each trip! Maybe it was, at the time our only option. We had young kids and didn't have the time or bankroll to go to Vegas. It used to be our happy place, our girls getaway. We had so many laughs and there was so much to do. Then things started changing. Our kids grew up, our disposable income increased and we were going more often and AC started to reflect the recession. With gambling being available in surrounding states, in came the bean counters and "men in suits"

Don't get me wrong, I get it. Everyone's in it for a profit. How do I expect to hit a jackpot when the play on the machines is sometimes non existent. I'm Diamond at CET and I'm a pimple on their ass. My girlfriend was 7* for years and was treated very well up until about 2 years ago. She's now Diamond and still gets treated like crap for a lot less outlay. I heard AC had a wonderful summer and I'm glad, I live 10 minutes from the beach so that's not a draw for me. The winters are depressing with restaurants closed and little to do besides gamble.

Hopefully they can turn tings around but I'm not holding my breath. Again, I have no desire to go and would rather save my bankroll for a fun time in Vegas with the girls.

I think AC has more "problem gamblers" than Vegas. AC has more weekend patrons who spend their milk money in hopes of turning it into honey. When reality shows it's ugly face they get cranky, looking for anything to blame it on, including you (us).

Vegas is a vacation destination. The majority of the patrons have a gambling bankroll budgeted just as if they were going to Europe or Disney. It's all part of the vacation expense. The majority is happy go lucky. If they win great!! If they lose, well there's next time....

I've visited the local Off-Strip places in Vegas and the craps table are similar to what was mentioned in AC. They (the players) tend to be a little more serious and sensitive at the craps tables. I cringe when I say this but the players are not gambling with vacation money. They are gambling with their week's paycheck.......

While I see what you're getting at because of the gritty degenerate side to AC, trust me that the degenerate "locals" market in Vegas dwarfs the entire AC market. The level of paycheck advances and paycheck cashing to feed the habit is absolutely huge in Vegas. Unless you spend a good chunk of time at the locals and offstrip properties you just don't see it.

Its easy to generalize because AC is dirty and has more than its fair share of degens, but you have to remember the size and scope of the local casino market in Vegas. Some of the biggest casinos in Vegas cater specifically to locals. (nearly solely in comparison to other "locals" casinos like the Orleans or Eastside Cannery which are frequented by tourists as well. Texas Station and Sante Fe Station are absolutely huge properties with very few tourists. Others locations for dive degeneracy include Arizona Charlies Decatur (AZ Charlies Boulder has a good amount of tourists) and the Longhorn/ Silver Nugget type joints. I frequently play at these properties, and have witnessed things that would make methhead axe murderers cringe. It truly is humanity at its lowest point, yet I continue to visit these locations.... I know, strange. Dewey and others also visit these properties... There is a certain authentic quality to them... The old Western, the Opera House, The Spike in it's day.... hard to explain, but drinking a few (dozen) beers outside of the Wynn/ Aria world brings Vegas full circle for me I guess.

Vegas is better at hiding its problems. The other thing that Vegas has that you don't see in AC is an extensive local bar scene (IE Magoos) with offshift VP drunkards playing at 7 am. Picture Longhorn +additional cigarette smoke, + additional horrible smell, + assembly line shots of Jack, + miserable locals that are just trying to "get ahead".

I see a lot of the same stuff when I go to Tunica. The people are nice enough but I generally go every 6 to 8 weeks and when I go I see the same people(locals) at the craps tables who come very often. Some are there every weekend some a lot more often than that. So it is not a vacation or a trip for them. And unless their luck is better than mine they can get a little cranky.

This is exactly why I stay on the strip. I ran into a degenerate craps player, screaming at people @ the LINQ last trip. I told him he looked familiar, and asked if he's from AC. He didn't get the joke, buy my friends surely did!
