Great Video Poker Trip to Atlantic City - Tropicana and Golden Nugget

Needed a mental health day, so drove down to AC yesterday for some leisurely VP. Tropicana was giving away gift cards, so I stopped there first. Bought in for $600 on a Super Triple Play machine, and hit this within a few minutes. Always great to hit something quickly! I've been getting a Royal nearly every trip recently.

 

Decided to try to parlay my winnings by playing $1 10-play, and ended up blowing the $2,000 plus my original $600 buy-in. Ugh. Annoyed at myself, I got up to leave and go to Golden Nugget, picking up the gift card on the way out. I was literally half way to the parking garage when I thought of all the recent posts here about winning STP sessions. Even though I usually don't play STP much anymore, I decided to turn around and try my luck. So I walked back to the VP section and bought in for $2,000 on $1 10-play STP, playing DDB. The very first hand I was dealt 3 Aces. Good start!, I thought. Well, I missed on all 10 hands. About 5 hands later, this pops up. Whoa.

 

This was the second time I've gotten dealt Aces in the past month, and fourth time since May. Imagine if there had been ANY kind of multiplier??

I donked off about $3,000, then hit a small $1,600 hand pay on Super Triple Play (quad Aces). So I cash out and head over to Golden Nugget, still up about $8,000. Plan was to lock in a $4,000 win and gamble with the rest. I sit down and shove $2,000 into my favorite All Star II machine at Nugget (the only one they have), and play some $1 10-play plain TDB. About 10 minutes in, I'm dealt 4-to-a-Royal. I had been dealt this earlier at Trop and missed it, so I was hoping to hit this one or I would have been pissed. Pressed draw and... nailed it for $4,000!

 

So I'm having fun and continue to play for a while, but I'm not hitting much and bleeding away money. Switch to 50-cent 10-play TDB, still nothing. Switch to 5-play SDDB and Super Aces on the neighboring Super Triple Play machine, to no avail. So I'm now up only about $6,600. I decide to stick with the original plan of locking in a $4,000 win, so I shove $2,600 in and play some more $1 10-play TDB, hoping to get lucky again. I finally hit a nice 3's w/k for $2,000.

 

So I continue to play without hitting much, and mutter to myself "I wish it would just deal me a quad". A couple hands later...

 

Now I'm back up about $8,500, so I decide to just take $500 and play 50-cent Super Aces on Super Triple Play, which pays 4000 credits for any 4 Aces. I put it on the highest speed and figured I would just power through it and hope the Aces pop up. I'm going along at a very fast pace, then I hold a single Ace and nailed the four Aces for $2,000, putting me up an even 10 grand for the day. I pack it in, grab a bite to eat, and drive home. Perfect day trip!
