Hey All -- Stumbled upon this forum somehow...probably lurking over at TripAdvisor. Anyhow, love reading peoples TRs and looking at all the pics and getting tips on Vegas in general.

Anyhow my name is Frank, I officially dubbed myself as a degenerate on my last flight home from Vegas (2 weeks ago) when I got an email from CET congratulating me on making Diamond (for the first time, long time Plat before that).

I love casinos in general, I first started gambling when I was 21 (27 now) at the old Trump Marina (now Golden Nugget) in Atlantic City. The first game I ever played was a 5c Tabasco machine, which I lost on LOL. Didn't really get heavy into gambling until a few years later when I decided to book a trip to Caesars in AC over St. Patrick's day. I was amazed that I got the comp and I had $30 in freeplay (at the time I was a lowly Gold with an average bankroll of $250 per trip, which I always blew). I was mostly a BJ and penny slot player at the time, I decided that with the freeplay I would try my luck at a dollar machine. I forget exactly what type of machine it was (I know it was a 1 line, 3 coin one) but on my 2nd spin using my freeplay I hit for $5000! My first handpay, ever since I have been hooked!

With the conditions the way they are in AC (losing on literally every CET trip) I decided to give Vegas a try. I went on my first Vegas trip in June 2015 with 3 friends, we stayed at The Linq and had quite a trip, Encore Beach Club + Wet Republic + XS + Gambling = No sleep & general debauchery. I had so much fun that I decided I would not gamble at all at CET props in AC and "save" all of my play with them for my Vegas trips. I just got back from my 2nd trip to Vegas 2 weeks ago, I took my wife (who is not a gambler and isn't into the club/bar scene). We stayed at Caesars and had an excellent time (however, my wife said she doesn't feel like she HAS to go back). We did the corny Gondola ride at the Venetian, champagne brunch at Mandalay Bay, drinks at the Foundation Room, etc. I moved my AC play (which is minimal now) to the Borgata, who has been treating me nicely.

I currently have 2 Vegas trips planned, both are at The Linq (love the centralized location and the promenade) for Jan and May 2016. Both have pretty nice offers. In Jan I have $50 dining credit and $100 in freeplay, in May I have a poolside cabana suite and a $200(!) per day dining credit.

Like I said above, I mostly play slots -- from pennys to $5 and BJ. After my last trip (which was a massacre, shh the wife doesn't know) I started researching less volatile games and discovered video poker, seems like alot of people on here play it and it may be a good way to "extend" the life of my bankroll. I started teaching myself the strategy for JOB...I want to master that before I move to something more like Double Bonus or Double Double bonus.

Looking forward to chatting with you all on here and will take any tips on VP and/or Vegas!

Welcome. You want video poker? You need to follow The Big Deuce...Royal Flusher. His trip reports are fantastic and he and his wife, The Quad Queen, only play VP.

    Cheers.
