My wife just texted me this: "To hell with MGM, we are not spending another dime at their properties if this is true."

Gonna be ugly. Report also claims they will charge you multiple times for coming and going, so you have to stay on site.

    Dumb.

And what really sucks is that the other casinos are probably going to have to follow suit just to keep their garages from being blown out by MGM customers. Shame on MGM. Another reason why Vegas is supposed to be a better value over other cities is biting the dust.

Resort fees stopped me from staying at MGM properties long ago. I do like to visit Bellagio and Mandalay Bay for the on-property sites but I do not gamble there because the game payouts are set too low. I will not pay parking fees. I get offers for free rooms once in a while from MGM properties but don't stay there solely because of the resort fees that I still get charged...every other company takes them off when they offer you a free room.

Yeah, I'm not going to get myself too upset until it actually happens, but there has been a terrible trend in Vegas to forget about the visitor experience, over the bottom line and profits.

Wonder if Valet will remain free ?

    -------

If the article is true (it states it was verified by multiple sources) this has got to be the stupidest idea I have ever heard. I understand that corporations have to make a profit, but to me this would be taking it too far. And I guarantee if they do, I will never spend another penny with MGM.

It seems to me these corporations have lost touch with their customers if they do implement this. A casino is basically a license to print money to begin with, but the parking garage is not and should not be a profit generating asset, it should be a free service to your customers.

No problem for me as I don't park in the MGM garage anyway. Too far from the hotel, plus I won't pay their high nightly rates. More of a reason not to visit the place anymore.

We shall see if this will happen or if they are just trying to see how customer reaction is.

This could be because of the new arena coming online next year.
20k people parking for events, and not gambling or using restaurants at the resorts near that end of the strip.

I usually don't drive car in Vegas. But, whenever they really starts doing this, I will stop playing at their casinos.

That was a blog posting on Vegas Bright by Blonde4ever, in which she asked the question about if you'd still visit Vegas if comped drinks went away. It was based on (and referenced) a blog post on Vital Vegas regarding the Mirage's new voucher system for drinks while playing video poker at the bar.

Vital's original post was about comp drinks at VP bars being harder to receive, and Blonde took that to a "what if" level. It was the VMB posted who freaked out about it.

Yes I have to agree with your husband Sonya--just too many rumors going around that just don't happen.
Guess we will have to wait and see

The bean counters will toss up some trial balloons, try some things, and some of them will stick.

The biggest thing they miss is that providing great service with a smile always works, is cheap to implement, and brings people back. Hire profitable people, don't just look for more ways to profit.

If this takes hold, I expect it to spread like wildfire and accelerate in price faster than resort fees ever did. I hate the thought of how far this could potentially go.
