hmmm.....you think they will just give you FP vouchers for the $500 CDN or actual cash? May be worth booking a night and giving them some play!

Yep. Here's what I've figured out through various posts and a phonecall to the cage. You have to be staying there. You show your passport and fork over your CAD money and they give you the same in Freeplay on your card. I think you can get chips too. Not sure though. Maybe promo chips?

You can do increments of $100.

Two questions for our Canadian friends.

    1. Are there any full pay poker machines anywhere in Canada?

2 Do you get shafted when you exchange money at the American Casinos like in Canada? I'm not even sure the American Casinos take Canadian, probably just our banks, but the Canadian casinos get you for a couple % both coming and then when you exchange back to go. I figure that knocks the already short pay vp machines down another 4%. Of course this could have changed as I have not been up to a Canadian casino in almost 3 years.

I would like to add that I feel your pain on the current exchange rate. Around 2 years ago it was on par or a couple of percent HIGHER than the dollar. Now you lose around 24% when you convert to US. Price of oil drop has not been kind to Canada. If I were a Canadian, I would have to think twice about scheduling any trip to LV and watching 24% of my money vanish before I even played a machine. Of course you can make some of that up if you drink a lot of free drinks cause the drinks at Canadian casinos are really high.

If anyone tries this let us know how it goes.

Thinking it over for January, but the DTG rooms would be pricier than other options, so debating if its worth it.

Anyone know if it is per person or per room?

My sister and I just got back from Vegas. We stayed 1 night at the DTG and my sister took part in the deal. I guess their definition of at par is not the same as ours though. They were only going to give her $99 in slot play for every $100 CAD. I heard this and asked why since at par would mean $100. The snotty clerk said they give $77 (that day's rate) and top it up with another $22 to make $99. I argued with her about it for a while and she insisted that that was what her paper said so that was all she could give and that she had no authority to change it. I asked to speak to someone who had authority then so she got the manager girl. She also basically said the same thing, that it was at par and would give $99 but after a while said she could give my sister the extra $1, like we were being so ridiculous about it. So I said yes, do that then and that they shouldn't advertise something if they don't mean it.That really pissed me off. It's only a dollar, but it is also false advertising. The icing on the cake was when my sister asked what machines she could use it on before she decided on how much money to exchange. The manager girl discussed it with the snotty clerk and said any machines. In reality though, you can't use them on most progressive machines which ruled out most of the ones we play on so my sister was then really pissed too. She managed to find enough machines to spend it on but the whole experience really left a bad taste in my mouth.

On a brighter note, the offers we received in the mail included freeplay that said available any 2 or 3 days. After reading here on the forum about it, I thought it meant that our freeplay could be used up over 2 or 3 days but thought it was stupid because our offers were only for $25 and $35. They actually meant we got that amount per day for 2 or 3 days in a row. Since I was only staying 1 night, I got the 2nd day's worth after midnight. It automatically goes on your card but you have to bet with your own money for the first bet to show up. This month you didn't have to stay to get it either but they said that could change next month, they don't know ahead of time.

Sometimes reading these reviews it almost feels like DTG's staff are trying to sabotage their own attempts to compete.

How do they not know the answers to these questions? How do you advertise $500 for $500, give most of it, and then argue with customers over a buck? You lose more in goodwill doing that than you gain with the promotion in the first place. I read about the DTG trying something new to get people in the door every 2-3 months, but I have never gotten any indication of them doing ANYTHING that would let them RETAIN any of that business.

There are no full pay machines in Canada. All we have going is there is no tax on any wins. The Canadian dollar against the US dollar is brutal. I recently bout 1000 US and it cost me almost 1,300 Canadian. You are also right in that we get dinged both ways. We might pay 30% to buy USA money and only get 25% when we cash in. (these are just rough estimates)

So yes it is hard to go to Vegas right now for Canadians. But if you get free rooms, food and cheap airfare there is at least an incentive.

Does anyone know, is the C$ at par promo limited to one per stay or per day? And, if there are 2 people in the room, do both have that option, or is limited to one per room?

Good that you get comped rooms or you would get dinged there too. And the food is definitely cheaper, especially Downtown. You guys have that EXTRA tax on some things which really hurts eating at a restaurant, drinking, or any other fun activity. If I recall, a good part of that extra tax goes toward your health care. Every cloud has that silver lining.

We do have full pay video poker in Canada. At Woodbine Slots in Toronto we have full pay pick em at 1,2, and 5 denoms. With cash back you are just over 100%. For the most part, they get ignored and folks play stupid slots.

If these are true full pay machines then no reason to play anything else for sure unless money is no issue at all. As a retired school teacher that would be my go to game if I lived in Toronto. Very low variance too which makes your money last longer.
Think I would change the place you used the adjective stupid and move it in front of another noun in your last sentence. Any guesse where I might put it?
