On Sunday's the Longbar at the D serves up a bloody mary bar where you can choose from hundreds of items to create the perfect bloody mary!

*unless they've ended that marketing idea..

Do you like them peppery? Spicy?

I've had them at several casino and can't say any stand out but all pretty good - GN, the D, Fremont are our usual playing spots in early morning when it's a bloody Mary breakfast

I've had good luck at the GN. I tried the build your own at the D, and as much as I wanted to like it, I didn't. My girlfriend didn't even finish hers. But with anything, it's personal preference. That was shortly after they started the build your own, maybe it's better now, haven't had the desire to try it again.

I dont know if the Parlour Bar at El Cortez is open early but I have had a few good Marys at the keno lounge bar. Very peppery, I asked the bartender what the name of the mix was and he said it was from scratch. And FYI, El Cortez free pours Ketel One, Four Queens pours Tito's.

Thanks for all of the recommendations. I prefer mine spicy, but more so from the fresh horseradish than the pepper.

Clamato = Bloody Caesar, not Bloody Mary

As an aside, does anyone really know what "clam juice" is? I always thought juice comes from fruits or vegetables, not animals. If there is such a thing as clam juice, is there also such a thing as cow juice? :vomit:

    Two things...
Jose is no longer there in the morning and MSS now pours their Bloody out of the gun. Tomato juice and all. Jose used to doctor it up by adding some real tomato juice, but I don't know about the other bartenders.

When I was there I over heard waitstaff and bartenders talking about Jose starting in the evening, they did not seem too thrilled. Not sure why. My second night at Boars head I a had less than attentive bartender.

Hmmmm... cow juice = milk... does clam juice = milk? If so, it must be hard to find their tiny little nipples. :evillaugh

"Clam juice is a liquid strained from freshly shucked clams." "A liquid?" WTF is "a liquid"?

    Wanker -
Why was the staff not thrilled ( about Jose ) ?
.......because he's leaving their shift and is their best bartender ?

You they did not get into it. The one waitress commented to one bartender "you get to work with Jose now" and the guy kinda put his head down and shook it, and she said "not thrilled about it are you?"

That is about it, because when I heard Jose's name I said, "everyone loves Jose!" I was not acknowledged but I think that shut down the conversation.

Several months ago I posted that the MSS Bloody Mary was no longer served in a parfait glass and was shot out of the gun. Still love the Boars Head Bar, but from now on I'll stick with beer.

By free pour I mean that the liquor is poured from a bottle and not from the bartender's gun. So in theory if the bartender likes you and you are tipping well he might make the drink a little stronger. If he is instead pressing a button on that gun shaped hose faucet you get the measured pour that the house has set, he can't add extra or hit it a second time. You can always ask a bartender what is the best vodka (or any other liquor) that they can comp, then you can ask for that in any drink that they are willing to comp. Maybe not a Hurricane or a Rum Runner, but it is always better to ask for Tito's and orange juice rather than a screwdriver.

As for Clamato, I have not found it anywhere downtown. Haven't tried GN, they might have it if anyone, it is usually twice the cost of tomato juice. Don't overthink clam juice, it is what it sounds like. At one point some people from Mott's Tomato tried to create a beverage based on New York style clam chowder. Most of the world thought it was awful, but the Canadians substituted it in the Bloody Mary and created the Bloody George, pretty much their national cocktail. In Mexico they used it in their cheladas which is why it shows up in those twenty-four ounce bud light cans. I would take a George over a Mary just about any day, but seldom is it available.

    Thanks Wanker -
But I gotta get this figured out ?......what this is about ?
Yes, ....we customers love Jose.....but I guess, the staff has another opinion ?
I never heard Jose be "tough" on any helpers ( bar-backs ) ?....or waitresses ?
Is it something about tips ?

    Hey Joe ?
    Chime in here !
What do you think the staff meant about Jose ?
