Single in Sin City

I can't get anyone to go with me, and I haven't been on vacation since 2011, Is there a safe place for a woman to travel alone for a few days, seeing how its a milestone birthday and she will be alone. What hotel would you be safe putting your mother in? I have stayed at almost the whole alpha bite of hotels there some that are long gone. Help me have a blow out 60th birthday in the Disney Land for adults. I am open to all suggestions.

Couldn't disagree more!!! There isn't even a Casino at Vdara. Frank, 60 isn't what it once was! I'm 54 and didn't sleep for two nights straight on my trip in September. I would suggest something central (I like Cosmo) but if your Mom is more laid back, I'd suggest Paris where she can access Ballys without even going outside, Cromwell from there with just one road cross and PHo on the otherside. Also just a crossing to Bellagio, Cosmo.

 

We love Paris for exactly this. It's laid back but right next to two party spots (Cosmo and PH) when the mood hits

 

Bellagio
In my 50's and me and my wife have enjoyed the hotel for the past 10 yrs or so two times a year.
The atomosphere throughout it is the best on strip. For food I'd recommend the Prime and Lago. For lighter fare the Cafe Palio near the pool entrance has breaky and lunch items.
A short walk to Aria is the Gean Gorege's Steak (Ask for early evening menu 5-7 saves $20 for the app, entre, dessert: $69); also Aria's Barot's atlounge menu is very good and i would recomend the Prime steak burger or fish/chips around $18.
The pool area is the best, lots of seats; sun and shade, relaxed atomsphere, rarely loud, nice music, drinks: beer 9, cocktails 12-16.
The conservatory is always a nice way to spent a half hour taking in the the flower arrangements, perhaps longer (i/m a male). LOL
And finally the Petrossian; The lobby bar! Piano players from noon to midnight. A seat in outer bar by the piano player is usally available, if not there there is not a bette place on in US for a a drink at the bar itself. All of the bar tenders are beyond compare. I feel like i know them better than most of friends back home. Ask for anything, review the drink menu etc. Not cheap 12-18 a drink, but I've travelled the US and what you will not encounter bartenders and guests to your left or right any where else.

Just returned on 9/29 and we are counting the days until next June when we will return again.

 

pffht the walk from your room at Caesars or MGM Grand to their casino floors is longer than the walk to either Aria's or Bellagio's casino's
and my 72 yr old mother manages both just fine

Excellent advice from Breanna, you can change the mood and theme with just a short walk from any of those locations and have something to please anyone! That is one of the exact reasons I stay at Bally's!

Shoot, 60 is a spring chicken. I'm 66. I'd take her clubbin'.

Mirage is very centrally located to TI, Venetian, Harrah's, Flamingo, Linq, Caesars.

Fashion Show Mall and the incredible Forum Shops are right there. Not to mention all the stuff at Venetian.

More restaurants than you can shake your walker at. (J/K)

Monorail just across the street at Harrah's.

Great (albeit crowded) pool.

Mirage is your best bet!

 

My mom was over 70 and had her own room at the California. She felt at ease and actually was in the lower percentile age wise. It connected to MSS without going outside and the variety (at that time) downtown was good enough.

But she was 70 and you are going to be 60 so the glitter and lights / noise and youth probably won't bother you as much. GOOD LUCK !!

 

I agree with earlier threads. If you want to stay mid-Strip, Paris is best if you want to stay with CZR corporation (Bally's if you want to save a little money) and Mirage is best if you want to stay at an MGM property. Enjoyable properties with easy connections to neighboring properties. There are nicer properties mid-Strip (ie: Wynn, Belagio), but I don't know if the atmosphere is necessarily better for a single woman and I don't know if the convenience to neighboring properties is quite as good...not necessarily hard to get to neighboring properties, but not as good as Paris and Mirage. If you want to stay south-Strip I would recommend Mandalay Bay or NYNY. They are nice properties that connect easily to their own cluster of other properties. Although I enjoy Downtown for a couple of days when I visit Vegas, I would not recommend it as a 'base' for a single middle-aged woman celebrating her 60th. Splurge a little and stay on the Strip.

Happy Birthday! What activities do you plan to do on your trip? Are you a gambler? Do you play table games or slots? Do you like to bet on football games? Do you want to spend time in the spa or at the pool? Do you want to see any shows?

I'm a 55 yr old female and I would choose Aria, Delano, or Four Seasons for a solo trip. Those are places which have nice spas, fitness centers and pools. (Delano and Four Seasons are hotels located on the Mandalay Bay property.) Those amenities are important to me, especially for a solo trip.
