I might have my friend's diamond card. He will NOT be in Vegas with us. I know I won't be able to use his RCs, but....

Can I use it to skip the Caesar's regular buffet line? Basically will they ask for ID to verify the diamond card is mine even if another buddy is paying for the buffet bill?

Also how does the Diamond lounge work? Will they check ID if we wanted to go into the diamond lounge? or can I just flash it and walk in?

Expect that most of the time they will ask for picture ID to verify it is you - I can remember once at Harrah's going to the cashier to cash chips: I went to the Diamond line where there was nobody in line and only one person in the regular line and a security guard asked me for ID.

If they didn't check for ID then you wouldn't even need to know somebody who was Diamond - you could just circle the casino a few times on a busy night and its a pretty good chance you will find somebody's lost Diamond card in/on/next to a slot machine somewhere.

I have never been asked for an ID at the Paris DL, but they always ask at PH. Guess it just depends, but worth a shot.

I'm surprised. I'm always asked for ID to verify at any DL.

If you happen to be able to get into a DL without ID, they will still swipe the Diamond Card. Your friend will be hit with a no play gaming day.....unless you are using their card to play as well.

Always asked at Diamond Lounge. Always.

Buffet... well, it is might be okay to jump the line, but since you have to pay, they may check ID at that point. Jumping the line at a restaurant where you pay LATER should work.

And use of the card in a DL or for anything that invloves a swipe will trigger a visit for your friend, and his average will drop, along with offers.

Also, if they think you are playing games with the card, they can close your friends account. Doubt they would bother, but they could.

I have never been ID'd for Cab lines, Bus lines, or Restaurant Lines.

Everything else (Lounge, hotel check in, etc) I always get ID'd

Yeah they rarely ID... even when you use the TR.... I misplaced my card last June and apparently someone has been using it all over CET properties since then. Good thing I noticed my balance dipping. I called CET and told them about this. They said technically, they need the ID but some of the restaurants and merchants don't check. Well, they did reverse all the charges and had to put a restriction on my account so that nobody (not even me) can use it until I call them.... anyway, back to OP question, even though their procedures say they check ID, you most probably won't get checked.

I can answer this from the perspective of Platinum, at Rio (old and new) and Harrah's buffet.

They don't ask for ID simply for using the Diamond/(Plat) entrance/line. If you pay with points on your card, yes, they do ask for ID.

I'm an occasional guest at a local Diamond lounge. Yes, they ask for ID from the diamond member. Lately they've been swiping my Platinum card even though I'm only a guest. I don't remember them asking for ID from me as a guest.

Thanks for all the replies. Lots of differing opinions and experiences. Guess it's just like everything, YMMV. It just depends on who is working. etc.

Bottom line I will NOT go into the Diamond lounge or use my friends points. I was never planning on using his points because in my experience they always asked for my ID when I paid with points at a restaurant or even snack at a deli. Plus those are his points and it would not be cool to use without asking.

But I do plan on using his diamond card to cut the line at the Caesar's buffet and the taxi line. I will just have one of my other friends pay for the buffet so they won't have to ask for my ID.
