Hope someone has been downtown for New Years and can give advice. I have The D booked, but am a little worried about their elevators. I tend to run back and forth to my room often, and don't want to be stuck waiting on elevators half my trip. The Plaza is about the same price, but then I would run into having to get through security to get into Fremont St.

Does anyone know how long it would take to get into the Fremont St area from The Plaza? Same question from The D. Is there security checking people coming from the casino into the Fremont St. area? If so, how long are the lines?

My finding on New Years Eve is no matter where you are staying there will be some decent waiting times to use the elevators (and the bathrooms).

To go from The D out to Fremont Street you will have to pass through security - they'll want to make sure you have a wristband to get out there.

It might be a bit unrealistic to be thinking that you'll be able to run back and forth to your room "often" - there'll be parts of the crowd that are really dense and packed in shoulder-to-shoulder where it'll take minutes just to move a few feet or work your way around a big group... probably going back to the room once and you'll likely want no more of that.

Thanks! It will be interesting. I normally do not do crowds, but NYE in Vegas is on my bucket list. I was thinking it would be faster to go to my room and mix my own drinks, rather than wait in line to buy over priced ones. Lol, maybe not, huh? I didn't even THINK about bathrooms. Any suggestion where the best place to be at midnight is? I am thinking right outside the D will be fine.
