We heard 50% of taxis drivers will long-haul you, what about limo?
I never used limo in Vegas, just curious.

Limos are generally rented on a time/destination basis, not a mileage basis. Taxi long hauling is a Vegas phenomenon because the best route is the interstate/tunnel in many instances, but it's the most expensive taxi fare.

What bigalbr said. Typically you'll rent a limo for a specific time or specific route and there's a flat fee. Taxi's charge you by time and mileage, so taking you the "long way" is more money for them.

I was in a limo once and they took a very strange route to our destination. So much so that pretty much everyone was saying "Where the hell are we?" but then we turned a corner and were there.

Once in a taxi, the driver was getting ready to turn right to head towards the highway and my friend said, "You know we aren't tourists, right? You're getting $12 for this ride." Suddenly, he didn't feel the need to take the highway. ;)

I get long hauled by limos almost every time. They tend to know the quickest way to destinations.

I wouldn't describe it as long hauling because I wasn't paying but I did have a limo driver go tunnel and freeway to get from the airport to the Palazzo.

In my mind, long-haul means they make you to pay more than necessary, either in the charges, or in tips.

I've only ever used limos from the airport to downtown... and they have always taken the tunnel & freeway to downtown.
If a cab did that, it would be 'long-hauling', since while it is usually the 'quickest' route, (by a few minutes) it is also more miles.

The fare difference in a cab is about $12 more by taking the tunnel & freeway. This is why, unless you specify otherwise, cabbies will usually take the tunnel & freeway - less time until their next fare & more charged on the meter.

There are only three legitimate reasons to use the tunnel:
    1. You just want the fastest trip possible to your destination.
    2. Your destination is south of the airport.
    3. The driver is making the decision since it will not impact your cost (i.e. - limos & shuttles).

I've had a few 'good' cabbies actually ask me, "Do you want fast or cheap?" when I take a cab downtown... my answer is always "cheap-no tunnel".

We have done comped limo from airport many times, and they seem to like the tunnel.

2-3 times to M-Bay. 1 to Bellagio 1 to Aria

Exactly. They often take the tunnel as they should because it's quicker.

I'm gonna say yes to this question. Had a new limo driver from presidential, we were going to the South Point and she went north out of the airport, then couldn't figure out how to get back going south to go through the tunnel and ended up taking Flamingo to I-15. By this time, she's already saying we are going to have to add on time, we won't make it there within the hour, no time to stop at the store, etc. Now we have the same driver every time, and there's no problem.
