    What's remarkable is the percentage who survived thru D-Day -
    the war - and are still alive today !

    Joe, thank you for posting this amazing pic. So few veterans from WW II are still with us.

    Every March a marathon is held (at White Sands Missile Range, NM) which honors the veterans of the Bataan Death March. (I was honored to participate in that race in 2006, 2008, and 2009.) Each year the names of the living Bataan veterans were announced during the opening ceremony. Several of the veterans were seated near the starting line, allowing the race participants to shake hands and thank them for their service to our country. It is humbling and awe-inspiring to shake the hands of such brave veterans.
