Well, the drinks AREN'T free, but I get what you mean.

Would I still visit? Yes, but perhaps a lot less frequently, and I would likely gamble even less (especially at low limit tables).

I am driving distance to being able to gamble without drinks, so the only incentive for a trip would be new shows/attractions and nightlife.

 

Actually I have no choice... I do not drink alcohol! So if the question was:
Would you still go if the Rooms were not free? I'd say yes but maybe not quite as often.

 

When I go to Vegas (or Laughlin), it's about the only time I drink quite a bit. Other than that, I rarely drink. A 6-pack of beer can last 6 months in my fridge.

That being said, if drinks weren't "free", I'd probably look at other locations like Laughlin or Reno more than Vegas, if nothing changed in those locations. But I'd still go to Vegas here and there.

Free drinks? Heck I paid a $100 for a beer many times on my last trip LOL

 

Water, soda, coffee, and other non-alcoholic drinks are "free" as well.....The O.P. did not specify if it was only alcohol or all complementary drinks.

 

I tend to drink at a leisurely pace, so I'm never pounding them down. I might have 2 or 3 drinks during a VP session. So I would definitely still go if drinks weren't free. In fact, sometimes I will buy a drink at a bar and bring it to a machine if I am in the mood for a higher quality wine or spirit.

 

Not at all. It's a nice perk, but certainly not a primary draw. We're not shy about having drinks in the world so maybe that's why getting loaded in Vegas just isn't on our must-do list. The loss of comped drinks would, however, signal a continuing and accelerated erosion in how guests are treated, and that is something that would have us thinking twice. As gambling becomes less important to us it is the host of other things that we need to make sense of a Vegas trip -- good golf, the food scene, commendable hotels at good prices, regard for good customer service, and of course some gambling. Gambling fuels the machine, it's what subsidizes so much of the Vegas value that even non-gamblers enjoy. If the subsidized goods slide away ... it's a big relatively ugly desert with so-so weather and a wad of hotel rooms.

 

I would go more. I don't drink, not even coffee, soda or sparkling water.
If I know there would be no more drunk people to bump into, it is certainly better.

those free drinks don't come cheap - air/food/gambling. If drinking were that important to me, I don't think Vegas would be my first choice. Say I wanted 12 domestic beer in a day. $1-$2 per bottle at the corner, say $24. What would that free beer in Vegas cost me???

No impact for the little that I drink these days.

 

Interesting question...hmmm. I certainly wouldn't enjoy the Vegas experience as well as I might with the change in cocktail service. I'm very liberal with the tips for the CW and appreciate that the drinks are "free". I sure hope we'll never find out.

 

Oh sure I would.....love my cocktails while playing but if they cost me more than the $1-2 tip.....would just get one of the huge drinks that last me for hours....

I'd go....but it wouldn't be the same.

Went to the Horseshoe today and would have loved a free margarita.

 

I'd still go but would miss the CW's who for the most part are friendly, fun, and a wonderful distraction. How sad that they would no longer be employed.

I'd probably go less often and play less because of this. We all know the drinks aren't actually "free" but it's the disregard for customer service and appreciation of our patronage that irritates me.

 

I don't think the CW would disappear, there would just be less of them. It would certainly affect a lot of employees that would be laid off and / or receive a lot less tips. I guess besides saving on the booze, they will also save on staffing. The "Mirage" experiment is a terrible idea. I have actually paid when I wanted a single malt that wasn't available as a comp, but I also like to enjoy playing the bar top @ MSS getting one of their beers. I don't want a machine to tell me when I can have another. So far the majority have said it doesn't matter, of those most are staying on the strip as opposed to DT. Think us DT peeps feel differently.
