When I stayed at the Cosmo 3 years ago you were allowed to smoke outside on the room balconies. The rooms were non smoking but there were ashtrays on the balcony.

Things always change.. with new property owners and the recent fire at Cosmo, can you still smoke on the balcony of your room?

Can anyone confirm the current status of smoking/non-smoking on the balconies who has stayed there RECENTLY?

It's pretty awesome to be out on one of these balconies but not being able to (or allowed to) smoke on the balcony is a deal breaker for me!

There were ash trays on the balconies on labor day weekend.

I spent a night in the East Tower two weeks ago and there was an ashtray provided on the balcony. Happily enjoyed a nice cigar and glass of bourbon in between casino sessions.

Is there a place inside Cosmo to purchase a cigar? Would prefer to not have to pack/fly with them - too much can go wrong there. Love the way you think though - thanks for the idea.

Yes, you can buy them at talon club on the 2nd floor east tower or the gift shop that is next to it.

There was usually a girl or two walking the casino floor with a cigarette/cigar tray while I was there. I think there's also one of those little 'sundries' shop-fronts on the second floor near the Chandelier Bar and East Tower elevators that sells tobacco products. Either way, you'll likely overpay.

Personally I'm fine with bringing cigars on flights - I take them out of my humidor the day of or night before my flight, seal them in a ziploc bag and put the bag in a small Tupperware container (or one of those snap-top pencil boxes) and pack that in one of my checked bags. I'll also usually put newspaper or bubble wrap in the container so they don't bounce around. This method hasn't failed me yet, but I can also understand if you'd rather just purchase on-sight.

The last time I was on a Cosmo balcony, this naked girl had a long tubular object in her mouth, which I assume was a giant cigar, so yes, smoking is allowed.

I've frequently traveled with a Xikar travel humidor that can hold 8-10 cigars, depending on Vitola. My cigars have arrived safe and properly humidified every time out there.

Check out Vatos cigars though if you get a chance, it's at Binions. They have a great selection of house cigars that I always buy a box of to bring home

I've only been here a few weeks, but I'm guessing this might be post of the year.

the truth of the matter is IF (and I think it is still a big IF) a cigarette or ashes from a cigarette, especially from a balcony above, caused that fire at Cosmo then should Cosmo be allowed to have anything on their pool deck besides concrete and water because clearly if a cigarette or ashes caused that Cosmo must have had pool furniture and decorations made out of napalm and tire scraps

Just for the record, I did not set off that fire at the Cosmo.

That's very comforting to know, considering my girl loves her Churchills.
