    My Trip Report

I've really enjoyed all the trip reports I've read so I thought I would try and return the favor.

Good friend of mine has never been to vegas so we're doing a guys weekend, Mon thru Thursday staying at the Monte Carlo. We got two nights quite cheap and one night comp via myvegas. Flying southwest on miles and have a $50 dining credit at MC and a few 241 buffet vouchers care of myvegas.

Not a ton of plans up front so we will see where the trip takes us. Going to hit some VP and BJ for sure and probably some holdem and slots mixed in. And of course the strip club. I'll do my best to update this as often as possible.

Early am flight from minneapolis to st Louis was on time and uneventfull. First win of the trip was a comp rum and orange juice on the flight! Sitting in the St Louis airport waiting for our flight to vegas now!

Our flight was the earliest SW had to LAS from MSP. just happened to connect in St. Louis, first time I've had a connection there but no complaints. Had two more drinks on the flight from STL to LAS with no charge, I hope the rest of the trip goes this well!

We had passes to The Club airport lounge via travelzoo, but being they are at gate D and SW is gate C we decided to just use them on arrival. Comp drinks and light snacks, chairs are quite comfortable, overall a nice experience. Going to consume our $15 in drinks and snacks then make our way to the MC

Well we finished drinks and snacks at the airport and took a cab to MC - checkin line wasn't too bad. No luck getting the resort fees waived but got a high floor room and the 50 food credit.

We gambled a bit, I was up 30 when we decided to head to Double Barrel Road House to eat dinner and use our dining credit. Food was pretty good I had the fried chicken and workdawg the chicken and sausage gumbo.

After dinner we hung out for a while and eventually called the limo for deja vu around 1030, free limo, free drinks till 12. I was very pleasantly surprised with the visit especially for a Monday night. More updates from today (Tuesday) later on. Headed to Aria for the buffet soon!

Well I apologize for failing on the semi-live report. Tuesday morning I woke up way earlier than I would have liked and felt like complete crap. I think a combination of all the smoke which I'm somewhat sensitive too and all the drinking the night before did me in. Along those lines I'll comment on the Monte Carlo - the location was fantastic, the pool area (more on that later) was enjoyable, but other than that I wasn't impressed. Drink service was terribly slow on the Casino floor and for the most part they were fairly weak drinks. The entire casino was terrible for smoke - even the rooms and towels smelt like it. I had no issues in other Casino's this trip or previously (V/P, Aria, CP, Linq, Cosmo, etc) so based on that alone I don't plan to stay there again until they renovate the place.

Back to the trip report - we went to Hash House on Tuesday morning for breakfast, afterwards I went back to the room to try and sleep for a bit while Workdawg went and did some gambling. He hit a $200+ bonus on some penny slots, I think it was a fishing game of some sort. Eventually I felt halfway okay so we went down played some meh odds 1c/5c Bonus Poker and I ended up leaving up about $50, hit three 4OAK but no royals, should have been playing 25c or $1, oh well.

And the 2nd, I guess I didn't take pictures after that lol

As mentioned earlier we ended up at the Aria buffet for dinner. I was a little underwhelmed after hearing some pretty decent feedback about it. They only had snow crab no king, and they weren't split as I was expecting - maybe that's only on Fri/Sat but either way I was bummed - the other meats were average and in some cases not overly hot. For half price (myvegas) it wasn't a bad deal but could have been a lot better - I think I'll return the Bellagio or maybe try Wicked Spoon, Caesars, etc next time I'm doing a dinner buffet. We did a little wandering around, gambling, etc Tuesday night. without much to report good or bad. We hit Cosmo for a while for the eye candy and to play a little there for the hell of it, left down a little but managed to make most that back at some VP when we got back to MC - ended up making it a somewhat early night.

Wednesday we decided to just chill downstairs by the pool - we went over to the MGM for breakfast at the buffet (myvegas again) I thought it was pretty dang good, breakfast is hard to screw up I guess but they had a nice variety of items and everything I had was hot and fresh. The bacon left a little to be desired but hey. After breakfast we hit the pool @ MC. It was perfectly fine for just relaxing and having some drinks. Not sure how great of a party spot it would be on the weekends but for us it did the Job. I think we hung out at the pool for 3-4 hours and decided to head north up the strip to the linq and see about maybe playing some 1/1 NL holdem - was too early and only 1 person on the wait list so we gambled there for a bit, drink service was good and they were happy to keep bringing me Johnny Black's just about as fast as I was finishing them. Got sick of playing there and decided to head up to Casino Royal for the $1 beers, a cheap foot long hot dog for lunch, and the $20 loss rebate. Workdawg proceeded to loose his $20 and the free $20 in some 25c machine. I sat down at wheel of fortune and was up $15 after a couple spins and decided to just cash out ahead.

Walked up to V/P for the hell of it and hung out there for a while, checked out the shops, etc. Eventually got a call that our seats were ready for 1/1NL @ The Linq. The new poker 'area' was decent, basically just a half dozen tables near the entrance but the dealers were pretty fun, game had a few locals that cycled through but mostly visitors and played for the most part pretty decently. Ended up getting some historically shitty cards for longer than I've ever seen before and left down about $100, oh well. After that we hit Shake Shack for a late night burger (we missed dinner) and wandered around the strip for a while before some more VP and a night cap. Hit 2 more 4OAK and ended up another $40 or so.

Thursday was our departure day so not a hell of a lot to report. Had breakfast @ The Pub inside the Monte Carlo which was decent, nothing special. Wandered around a little bit and packed up to head to the airport - flight from LAS to Denver was on time, stuck on an old 737-500 but had a middle seat open between us so can't complain too much. Flight from Denver to MSP was delayed about a half hour but we had passes to the Admirals club so we just hung out there having drinks and snacks.

Overall had a great time as always. Can't wait for the next trip whenever that ends up being, hopefully much sooner than the 4+ years since the last one.

Thanks for the report. Where did you find the free drinks? Is the place called deja vu?

Live reports are tough for sure! Nice wrap-up though; sounds like you had a fun time!

Totally agree with you on MC. Casino is nothing to talk about and smokier than average too.
