    My Trip Report

we are finally less than 24 hours from our trip. has been about 18 months since last trip for me, probably 3 years for my wife. she always says she is vegased out so i started bugging her pretty early in the year about how nice it would be to go to vegas for my 50th. i finally wore her down.

after making reservations at aria then Monte Carlo, i finally settled on mgm since i know we will be doing some pool time in the mornings. some of you may have seen a thread i had about the room search and how this is the first time since the mid 90s i've had to pay anything for a room. i'm still not happy about it, 18 months is quite a while between trips but in the past i've had some longer gaps between visits and still managed to get a room.

i have a few myvegas rewards to use, $50 free play at mgm, 2 free dinner buffets at aria, and $50 dining credit at monte carlo. we aren't big foodies but seem to be on a never ending search for gluten free food as my wife has celiac and the tiniest bit of gluten affects her for hours or days.

we have a car from Alamo and plan on going downtown upon arrival to use some matchplays and free play. my wife has never been downtown during any of her 10 trips or so. i also want to see the neon boneyard and hope to get some good pictures.

i downloaded the tapatalk app and hope you post some photos during the trip.

we will do some moderate gambling during the day/evening but my wife will be in bed hours before me so i hope to do some hard core playing after that.

This sounds exactly like my wife and I in regards to Vegas. I love it. She's Vegased out. She also goes to bed super early and that's the time I get my gambol on. Best of luck to you and get a royal.

Good luck on the trip, Todd. I'm in Worthington. Nice tickets, although it should be an easy victory. ;)

We made it after making it to our gate in Columbus 13 minutes before flight, have no idea what was going on but the security line was at least ten times longer than usual. Went over and got our super cool Corolla from Alamo and headed downtown. Haven't had time to eat today so we are at the Claim Jumper in GN, I'm so hungry I'd eat about anywhere at this point.

So the meal at Claim a Jumper was adequate, had French toast. The gambling downtown not so good, VP was a disaster, wife wanted to play some penny slots and that too was a no go. We used some match play coupons and some free play coupons and lost them all. We played 3 card poker a couple different places and I won 100. Just checked into MGM and there is some Floyd Mayweather bullshit going on in the lobby. Couldn't hear and got shot down on the complimentary upgrade. The offered a bottle of bubbly but I declined.

Did get a bit of a surprise as my brother had a gift card from MGM waiting for me on arrival, was a nice surprise

Back at MGM, finally had a decent session playing free bet blackjack. Hit back to back bjs then got dealt AA, split them and got 2 more bjs. Had another hand splitting 7s a total of 4 times and won all 4 hands[IMG]

The gift card is a nice surprise and a great idea. I have had champagne and strawberries delivered to friends' rooms in Vegas but never thought of a gift card. Get some birthday wns!

Heading home, don't know how u people stay up with a live report! Had a good time, gambling losses on Wednesday sucked but overall not a horrible outcome. Last night had dinner at Craftsteak which was pretty good but not being a foodie, seemed like a waste of money. Went to Brad Garrett comedy club after dinner, show was just ok, headliner wasn't really funny at all. Went to Host desk this morning to see what I could get comped off, they took a little off bill but nothing substantial, still couldn't get a host to actually talk to me, everything over phone, frustrating for me. Time to start thinking about next trip.

Grand king on 19th floor and it was very nice. I'm just "common folk" so I just appreciate a large clean bathroom and a comfortable bed, I thought room was rather large
